If he was going to pick a woman from the House or Senate, I believe that he'd pick someone more well-known - like Pelosi, Boxer or Feinstein.
He needs "star-power". McCain has it, and so does hillary.
Zell Miller.
I wouldn't be surprised. Powell has a lot of what Kerry needs - race, popularity, experience, responsible judgement (which is one quality that would make him refuse).
One of the things the clintoons did to the Dem party is leave them without a solid core of experienced and able people to run in later elections. Richardson is doing ok, but most of the rest not so hot. Janet Reno? Robert Reich?
Why not? Kerry has begged McCain countless times.
It'll be Edwards or Bayh.
Hillary's negatives are sky-high,
however. Feinstein would not run,
for lots of personal reasons, I
believe. Kerry has a problem if a
celebrity-type outshines HIM too
much.
This smells like a hit job. The press wants Edwards so they're making attacks on Gephardt. Missouri evidently has 120 counties and independent cities, so AP probably went to the Dem county chairmen in just about all of them and asked who they want the Veep pick to be. They found 11 who want Edwards (the rest were probably loyal to Gephardt), and they run a story about how even Missouri county chairmen don't want Gephardt. Sneaky rats.
Puhleeeeeeeeeeze pick Gepfart...
I can just see the presidential adds with Geppy spouting off how the President is "a miserable failure"...
then posting "W's" record:
Economy Humming - check
Afghanistan Free - check
Iraq Free, UN on board, Nato on board - check
etc etc...
I guess Geppy oughtta look in the mirror...
After all he was replaced by Nancy Pelosi!!!
Now do we want to talk about "miserable failures"?
