REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- A college friend of Scott Peterson's claimed Peterson told him in 1995 that if he ever killed someone, he would dump the weighted-down corpse in the ocean, a detective testified yesterday.
"Scott said he would tie a bag around the neck with duct tape ... and drop the body with weights into the ocean," said Modesto Police Det. Allen Brocchini. "The fish activity would eat away at the neck and hands. The body would float up with no fingers and no teeth, so there would be no means of identification."
Brocchini said the man called police the day after Peterson was arrested on suspicion of murdering his pregnant wife, Laci. The detective conceded on cross-examination that he never followed up on the account because the man's timing was suspicious and his story couldn't be confirmed by anyone else.......SNIP IT

June 30, 2004 -- REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Scott Peterson once detailed his perfect fantasy murder: Suffocate the victim with a bag and then weigh the body down before tossing it in the ocean, hoping fish would eat off its head and limbs, a cop yesterday testified he was told.
The headless body of Peterson's pregnant wife, Laci, was found washed up on a California shore — with most of her limbs missing — in April 2003, less than six months after her husband reported her missing from their Modesto home. The body of her fetus lay nearby.
A piece of duct tape also was found on Laci's body.
"Scott said he would tie a bag around the neck with duct tape . . . and drop the body with weights in the ocean," Modesto Detective Allen Brocchini said one of Peterson's college pals told him, based on a conversation the friend had with Peterson nine years earlier.

Now Broncchini is being criticized for not thoroughly investigating this tip of a 1995 conversation that could not be corroborated....
However the description of "how to do it" still lurks in the jurors minds...;)

Who are "the G's"?
Miss Jae ignores one thing. In only ONE person that we know of do all three of the following come together: motive, means, and opportunity. That person is Scott Peterson.
Not Ron Grantski. What would be his motive? Where would be his opportunity? How often was HE alone with Laci? Probably almost never.
Not Amber Frey. Where's HER opportunity? She didn't even know who Laci was. Regardless of her alleged fitness, she couldn't have physically done all that was required to get Laci to the bottom of the Bay. No means.
Amazing..Broncchin's credibility destroyed and the case was "lost" last Thursday..Every talking head was dissing the prosecution....Not one on Greta mentioned the rehab of Broncchini Greta...It was all about a "gotcha" on the college friend tip, this time by the prosecution.
In the meantime some are saying this will be fodder for an appeal if Scott is convicted....sigh.

I wish they'd bring this college friend in to testify, so the jury themselves could decide whether or not his story is credible.

The defense will make him out to be a nut and the jury has already heard that the detective didn't put much stock in it because of the timing and lack of corroboration.
Every bit of rumor and gossip broadcast, written and on the internet will be used as a way he could have made it up...Best to just let it sit there?
