Swedish pastor sentenced to one month's jail for offending homosexuals

Stockholm (ENI). A Swedish court has sentenced a pastor belonging to the Pentecostal movement in Sweden, Ake Green, to a month in prison, under a law against incitement, after he was found guilty of having offended homosexuals in a sermon.

Soren Andersson, the president of the Swedish federation for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights (RFSL), said on hearing the sentence that religious freedom could never be used as a reason to offend people. "Therefore," he told journalists, "I cannot regard the sentence as an act of interference with freedom of religion."

During a sermon in 2003, Green described homosexuality as "abnormal, a horrible cancerous tumour in the body of society".

if we had lost WWII there would be no homosexuals in Europe at all. A fact the eurorats should remember sometime. Especially the gay ones.

They're a mass of contradictions, to be sure. A heterosexual can't so much as speak a word against them, but when it comes to torturing, humiliating and killing each other, that's all just part of the fun.

It seems that Pastor Green is living your tagline. As are we all in this day and age.

He's right on target.

Unfortunately, you can't say that in Sweden and give us a few years under leftist domination in this country, and we'll be tossing people who express true opinions into dungeons with greater frequency.

The suicide rate in Sweden is the highest in Europe and one can't help but wonder if the large gaggle of homosexuals are the ones offing themselves.

He sounds like he is saying to eradicate homosexuality, not the homosexual. BIIIIIIG difference - so how could this possibly be a "hate" crime??? Stupid Swedish!

It's already going on in Canada too. A pastor there was fined for taking out an ad in the local paper that quoted scripture saying homosexuality was an abomination before God. A printer there was fined for refusing to do a printing job for a gay/lesbian group. They took him to court for declining to do the job and the court awarded them damages. Welcome to the gulag.

If this doesn't convince Christians that we are living at the end of the age, then nothing will, except maybe massive calamity and destruction, which can be averted through repentance and revival.

Good news for Pastor Green:

Matthew 5
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

The Thought Police are in Sweden. How long before they arrive on our shores?

I believe they're already here. I think Ted Kennedy's "hate crimes" legislation is because Barney Fag's got something on him. LOL I have to say it while I still can. :-)

Huh? How on earth is that inciteful? (The charge they nailed him on.)Upon hearing these words did the parishioners leap up and an swarm into the streets, complete with torches and dogs, hunting down the poor, cowering homosexuals? If this was not the case -- if nobody did anything after he spoke those words -- then how was this poor fellowed found guilty of incitement? Why does the story not quote the minister's side of the story?

And, as an interesting aside, just who turned him in? You know the old saying: "He who waits can have anything he wants." The fact that the accuser just happened to be there during that particular sermon smacks of a set up. 'Course I'll be the first to admit I don't know, but sure as shootin' his lawyer should have!

There's a new bible coming out of England I read a thread on the other day. It says that homosexuality is natural and normal, and that St. Paul didn't exactly condemn fornication. I expect that in places like Canada and Sweden that will be the only bible allowed, which will constitute a Government establishment of religion, but no one will care.

That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard. If Kerry, the Clintons and the like can't win the election; it's over for them. Too many countries are beginning to taste freedom now.

It's going to be nasty. They are probably going to try to steal the votes again.

I bet once the pastor gets out he goes right back to the pulprit and preaches the same message. At some these people will go too far even for liberals and socialists and the ship will eventually right itself. This is tyranny.

At least the good pastor didn't say anything about "the old muddy road", "heat seeking missiles" or "fudge factories".

So, now a pastor, preacher, imam, rabbi, priest or reverand cannot say anything IN HIS PLACE OF WORSHIP in Sweden that would offend anyone? Well, if sinners are a persecuted group, we'll all be offended!..........

Welcome to the New World Order....
The persecution of Christians for 'The Word's' sake
The man of lawlessness (aka Anti Christ) should be revealed pretty soon
For when good becomes evil and evil good....that's lawlessness
When the law of man is antithetical to the law of God ...that's lawlessness
And when lawlessness is codified -the impetus to do that -comes straight from the pit of hell
The time to be able to pick a side is drawing to a close
imo

Amen! Pastor Green's going to be rewarded big in the next life. It's going to be difficult on him for the remainder of this one though. In fact, it's going to be difficult on all of us. I think Christians are just beginning to see what persecution looks like, and we haven't seen anything yet. Btw, welcome to Free Republic. Nice nick! :-)

I did not know any of those terms. I hope the preacher did not speak of:

The Hershey Highway, Rump Rangers, Butthole Surfers, Carpet Munchers, or Pillow Biters.
