Baseless fear of John Edwards
july/8/04 | jveritas

Some conservative pundits are shaking in their boots because John Kerry selected John Edwards to be his VP nominee. Some of these pundits are calling the gloom and doom scenario, and they are one breath away from declaring that the 2004 election is over and Kerry-Edwards are going to absolutely win the White House.

These pundits are telling us that “unlike John Kerry”, John Edwards is energetic, charismatic, connect with people, from the South with “Southern accent”, has a cute family, comes from humble beginning, physically attractive, and so on an so forth about his physical looks and his persona. Therefore, their conclusion is that George W Bush is in huge trouble because of the # 2 on the Democratic ticket John Edwards.

These “Knee Jerk” conservative pundits who have been declaring one after other doom and gloom scenario for President Bush from the war in Iraq, to the Paul O’Neil book, to Richard Clarke and the 9/11 hearings, to Abu Ghraib prison, and now to John Edwards.

Few facts for the “Knee jerk” conservative pundits:

In our history, people never voted for a President based on who is the vice President. It did not happen in the past, it will not happen this year, and it will never happen in the future.

If Edwards was such a magnificent and charismatic candidate why did he lose so badly to the very boring and dull John Kerry, in the “DEMOCRATS” primaries, among “DEMOCRAT VOTERS”.

You tell us that woman and young people will vote for Edwards because he is charming. The majority of women and young people vote Democrat anyway, they did it in 2000 and Bush still won.

The women that vote based on the physical looks and charming persona of the VP candidate are shallow women and those women will never vote Republican not in the past not now and not in the future.

Young people will not go in masses to vote for the Democrats. The majority of young people are too lazy to vote. It has been always the case and nothing is going to change it this year. Remember all the buzz and talk about the young “dencias” with their “orange hats” and how they were going to drive in masses to elect Howard Dean in the primaries. It did not happen.

The majority of voters, higher than 50.1%, are not that dumb that in a 9/11 world they are going to vote for Kerry because his # 2 guy is charming, charismatic and good looking. Most importantly in this election, the majority of voters will vote the better leader and the one who is going to protect them from terrorists. This man is President George W Bush.

Stop this baseless fear about Johnny Edwards and work very hard in re-electing President Bush.

Yeah, I'm sooooooo 'skeeered. Pffffftt! Edwards is an empty suit and the best thing to guarantee a Bush victory. The whole campaign is starting to take on Disney-ish overtones. Fantasy land.

I'm afraid because they have better hair. That's what it's all about, isn't it?

I have to say my husband and I thought that "better hair" comment was made up as a joke until we actually heard Kerry say it. Imagine a guy 60 saying something like that in a Pres. election. It seems more like high school student body than serious adult, leader-of-the-world politics. Amazing really that ANYONE would take them seriously. It's more like a sit-com.

I'm afraid if these two bozos keep touching themselves, they'll turn everyone off.

Did anyone hear Fox News this morning when a Republican speaker named Brad Bxxxxx was speaking against a John Edwards defender?

I'd like to know this guy's name. He was EXCELLENT in his responses. He even got in that both had been absent from their jobs for this past year.

Anybody know?

Kerry: "And I want you to know we think this is a dream ticket. We've got better vision. We've got better ideas. We've got real plans. We've got a better sense of what's happening to America. And we've got better hair. I'll tell you that goes a long way.

He shouldn't have said "And we've got better hair" until the end as an unexpected joke. As it is, he really implied that having better hair is just as important, or more so, than having visions, ideas, plans, and sense.

This might seem nitpicking, but humor can either be a great offensive weapon or cause self-inflicting wounds. After saying, "And we've got better hair" he should have tried to bring everyone back in focus by saying something like "in all seriousness, having visions, ideas, plans, and sense goes a long way."

Instead, he came across as a clown.

Oh really. Who are these conservatives shaking in their boots? I've don't know of any conservative who has expressed any fear over John Kerry's pick of John Boy Edwards as his runningmate.

Anyone who thinks Kerry and Edwards will win the election in November needs mental health counseling. 'Nuff said.

Huh? Not the ones I listen and read. Edwards is a limosine liberal self serving greasy trial lawyer. Perfect representation for the democrats and what they stand for.

Hail to the King Baby.

If you did watch Joe Scorborough on MSNBC in the last tow days, you will know exactly what I mean by the Knee jerk reaction of some conservative pundits. I tell you, this guy needs a Prozac. He is putting a gloom and doom scenario for President Bush worse than the ultra left political commentators.

Joe Scorborough from MSNB is the ultimate personification of a “Knee Jerk Conservative” who has completely lost it regarding the Edwards nomination for VP by John Kerry. In the last two days, you would rather prefer to watch Michael Moore than listening to Joe Scorborough making this gloom and doom scenario for President Bush after Edwards was selected by Kerry as a running mate.

Ya think you might have just stumbled onto the reason MSNBC hired him in the first place?

No different than CNN trotting out that little lost boy, Carlson, as a Conservative.

Because they were both subjected to scathing commentary about the lopsided nature of their reporting, both of these examples hired two "conservatives"....that were unable to gain employment with Fox News.

If your running a liberal news outlet, but are being forced to give a passing nod to "balance" by the competition, you would hire a Conservative, all right. One that your "stars" can run rings around without breaking a sweat....Carville and Begala on CNN, Mathews and the gang at MSNBC.

I occasionally watch Scarborough on MSNBC, and each time I do I come away with the feeling "I understand why you aren't in office any longer, and why you are a MSNBC trojan horse".

Just my opinion.

The whole Kerry campaign is a joke and Kerry and Edwards are both a joke.
