WASHINGTON DC - The new manufacturing numbers out today point to more economic record-setting news.
The Manufacturers Alliance reported that its Business Outlook index rose to 80 its highest point since 1972. An index above 50 indicates expansion anything below 50 indicates shrinkage.
The figures are based on surveys with manufacturing executives from a whole range of industries. The index is pointing to an increase in manufacturing activity for the next three months.
Executives were asked to compare product orders from April, May and June for the same time period of 2003. 90% of the respondents stated that new orders were up.
Donald Norman an economist with the Washington DC based Manufacturers Alliance said in an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "It's quite a rebound. Manufacturing led the recession, but it is now projected to grow faster than the overall economy."
He added, "Expansion of manufacturing activity is real and robust!"

Here's a classic for ya!!!
KERRY: "Bring it on"
OK you asked for it.....................
If I turn on CNBC to catch a market update, I put our system on mute.
We need a truth in talking heads on financial shows.
They have to tell if they own stock that they are touting.
I want to see their political party shown on tv as they shriek their hate GW mantras disguised as their economic reports.
GO BUSH GO!
lol! That's the first time I've seen that one. too funny!
The manufacturing jobs are really good because I heard they were on the decline for the past fifty years. Maybe we might get some otherwise democrat Labor Union votes.
It is amazing how the major mediots have hidden the data comparing what is happening now versus up to 20 to 30 years ago re our economy.
boy, if there really were such a ketchup...I'd buy a case...
And just how am I supposed to do that when there is no link to the rest of the article?
Sheeeesh, this post is just a troll to misdirect you to the blog-site of some pinhead radio talk show host. If those weiners want to use call-screeners and the mute button on their own shows to limit discussion to their own pontification, that's fine by me. But I'm not gonna waste my time with that nonsense on this forum.
I'm doing my part by spending my butt off this summer!!!
Agreed! I especially wanted you to see the great pic in #17!!!
You got me on that link. My bad on bringing you over to read it. I just read what was posted because frankly I'm sick and tired of following links over to an article that should be fully posted in the first place. What did get posted I thought you should see.
Gotta admit, though I doubt you will, that what was posted IS good news.
Here:The new manufacturing numbers out today point to more economic record-setting news.
and here: The Manufacturers Alliance reported that its Business Outlook index rose to 80 its highest point since 1972. An index above 50 indicates expansion anything below 50 indicates shrinkage.
some more here: The index is pointing to an increase in manufacturing activity for the next three months.
and this: 90% of the respondents stated that new orders were up.
and here: Donald Norman an economist with the Washington DC based Manufacturers Alliance said in an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "It's quite a rebound. Manufacturing led the recession, but it is now projected to grow faster than the overall economy."
It's not the entire article but it has enough information to get the idea that there is some good news in this area.
lastly: He added, "Expansion of manufacturing activity is real and robust!"

Not at all.
As a longtime FReeper, I was being quite series with that reply.
Here, you can review KMC1's posts yourself.
You'll find few, if any, actual replies to other forum participants.
Mostly just "articles" posted as lures to the same talk-show host blog.
TROLL!!!
because frankly I'm sick and tired of following links over to an article that should be fully posted in the first place.
Tough beaners for you.
You've been here long enough to know that there are serious implications to posting unsourced, unattributed articles. If nothing else, how would you determine that the article is NOT from a source that would place this forum in violation of a copyright complaint?
"Expansion of manufacturing activity is real and robust!"
Hogwash.
There has been no change in the underlying regulatory, trade and taxation factors that render our domestic economy hostile to the manufacturing sector. "New orders" for final product has become an unreliable and misleading indicator of manufacturing activity as the proportion of offshore product content increases. What good is an increase in sales if 95% of the product is made overseas and imported?
The Graphic arts designer needs to reverse the wigs.
Make the shorter john have the pretty boy/Breck look.
I've already said it was my bad.
If the article is unworthy, why continue to comment on it?
Very revealing line about yourself here: What good is an increase in sales if 95% of the product is made overseas and imported? An increase is an increase. I pity you because for likely the rest of your life you will be crying and complaining.
Let me see who do I believe: Donald Norman an economist with the Washington DC based Manufacturers Alliance or humor-intolerant WG? I choose Mr. Norman.
Why would you say that?
Did YOU post the article?
Is "Boxsford" another screenname for "KMC1"?
If the article is unworthy, why continue to comment on it?
Well excuuuuuuuse me for incorrectly assuming that you wanted to actually discuss issues that confront the domestic manufacturing sector.
Very revealing line about yourself here:
Yadda, yadda, yadda...
Spare me the amateurish psychobabble spinjob...
I'm bored with that incessant crap.
Ciao.
I sad it was my bad because I brought you over to an article with a faulty link.
I've read enough of your posts to know something about babble.
