10:1 odds that Brian is either a "born again" or gay

I'm born again but I'm certainly no prude. Nice big brush you're painting with there.

Oh my god, they might actually see a pair of breasts. After that, it would probably better just to kill them than for them to have to live with that horror for the rest of their lives....

Besides, "the eyes have it" (majority vote). What do I mean? Too many folks (not necessarily you) have to morally justify the pleasure they receive looking @ exposed breasts hangin' out in public on the internet.

And if they can't or won't condemn that self-behavior of voyeurism/sex addiction, how can they dare frown on any exposer in the public square?

Once public nudity is embraced by a voyeur's online endorsement, there is no place to draw the line on public nudity of any sort. All venues are fair game.

I see.

So if you don't have enough real crime to keep law-enforcement busy, you create work for them to make them earn their pay. I don't like laws in general and feel only those which are most essential for the existence of a civil society should be adopted. I thought Liberals were the people who liked lots of laws, lawsuits, etc.?

Flashing one's breasts at a passing motorist is hardly parading around naked. If you don't want to see it, don't look.

Public indeceny laws exist everywhere for good reason, but prudent judgement by law-enforcement officials - probably too much to expect anyway - should also be exercised.

Frankly, innocently driving along and suddenly exposed to whatever, breast, penis, bad grammar, to me, is not a "yippee I'm feeling sexual" thing. It's more a "oh, puleeze pull your shirt down and get off the road before you kill someone or I puke." Seeing a naked body is no longer a great shock. Nor, in most cases, a great treat. It would, however, be nice if we could keep children innocent of the depravity of mankind as long as possible. A woman on the side of the road exposing her breasts is not on the same level as a Michelangelo sketch.

I agree that no one was harmed (too much, anyway) by the sight of this woman's bosom, but a prosecuting attorney takes an oath to enforce all the laws, not just the ones you agree with. He witnessed a crime - as defined by his state legislature - and was bound by his oath to enforce it. Further, he was elected by the folks in Logan County after, I imagine, he promised to do just that (and not to enforce the laws selectively).

too many fire and brimstone Southern Baptist types.

I'm not condoning every fire & brimstome comment you've ever heard. But I can say that fire & brimstome So. Baptist types are nothin' in comparison to actual fire & brimstome awaiting the majority of folks.

Some folks who displayed amazing wisdom in their words conveyed that there indeed was some fire awaitin' folks beyond this life. One such person whose initials were JC once said, "wide is the road that leads to destruction and narrow is the way that leads to life." He also told a story of a certain rich man who "died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment...I am in agony in this fire." (Dr. Luke)

So there was a certain fire & brimstome component to JC's own words.

When my kids were younger, I told them that the stove, oven, and BBQ were each hot for a reason. But you can always write that off as the actions of a reactionary, fire & brimstome parent, eh?

Here’s the crime stats for Logan County, West Virginia for 2000.   I am sure that breast patrols have played a significant measure in suppressing their crime levels in their county.

Crimes reported in Logan County West Virginia
Crime 2000

Statistics presented are based on data collected by the FBI as part of its Uniform Crime Reporting Program. These data represent offenses reported to and arrests made by State and local law enforcement agencies as reported to the FBI. These data do not include Federal law enforcement activity. Additionally, not all law enforcement agencies consistently report offense and arrest data to the FBI. Users should refer to the Coverage Indicator for the proportion of the population covered by the agencies reporting to the FBI.

You don't understand. This prosecutor committed a sin against relativism. The relativistic absolutists believe in relativism so whole-heartedly that when someone transgresses their worldview, they need to set them straight.

And how do these relativists migrate to become absolutists? Well, there are certain life principles & experiences which are too "good" to just give up. And one of those is pure hedonism. The pleasure of feeding the five senses has a consuming appetite.

So those who feed the monster inevitably allow hedonism to rule their lives, thereby rolling out selective attitudes of what constitutes a sin, a public sin (exposing others to temptation or sin), and acts of crime. Then they project those same attitudes to folks like this prosecutor. "How dare this prosecutor fail to be selective! Why he should be prosecuted for failing to bow before the god of hedonism!"

Your replies have been interesting and mildly entertaining. The point you all missed is that this behavior isn't just "wrong" it's against the law... indecent exposure.

Feel free to just tell your kids that this behavior isn't appropriate and say nothing about the legal issues. Then call the person who is actually supposed to uphold the law names when he does his duty.

Conservatives? No... selective moralists.

Thanks, we try...

Yes, we are all aware it is against the law. However, there are many, many laws that get broken every day. It is generally up to the prosecutor's discretion which cases actually get taken to court and prosecuted. I think the prosecutor used ridiculous crappy judgement here when he decided to use the town's limited funds to not only have a trial for this woman, but to jail her for 30 days. It's illegal to jaywalk too, but cops, believe it or not, don't actually ticket every jaywalker that they see. It's illegal to drive 1 mile over the speed limit, but again, that doesn't mean that everyone who drives one mile over the limit should be busted.

In my case, that would be relative moralist. You've probably never driven over the posted speed limit either.
