It was a cargo ship that was intercepted, A German owned ship leaving from an Itilain port I believe and heading for Tripoli

There's at least one thread on this in the FR archives. Try "Loftus", 2-10 weeks ago.

I did a lot of research on Joe Wilson, I said from day one that he was a fraud. A year ago I screamed to anyone who would listen about the fact that Wilson claimed he saw the "Forged Document" before he left for Niger. The U.N. Report shows that the "Forged Document" didn't even exist until 8 months after Joe Wilson returned from his Sweet Tea Mission to Niger

I think anyone who took a serious look at his op ed knew he was a blowhard. That thing read like a cross between a cheap comic book and a snakeoil salesman's resume.

IMHO, there is gonna be a boat load of Crow that the Democrats will have to eat. This whole "Saddam had no WMD" and "Bush Lied" thing is probably the dumbest thing the Democrats have ever done.

First off we knew for a fact that he HAD them.

Secondly, we knew that Saddam was hiding everything he could in the 90's when we had inspectors there.

Third, We uncovered the details of his stockpiles in the 90's but Saddam never turned them over, we had to search for them, and we found quite a bit.

Fourth, Saddam was enduring the sanctions and no fly zones for more than his ego.

IMHO The Democrats used the Joe Wilson claim that "Bush Lied" about the Uranium claims in the SOTU speech as a club to attack GWB over the War in Iraq because that was his strongest reason to get reelected. They had little else to run against him with.

The "Bush Lied" sound bite was a big hit with the Bush bashers and it snowballed all the way through the primaries and now the Democrats are in a corner, because the facts are coming out now and the facts are on George W. Bush's side

The Democrats deserve to get bit on the arse:

JUNE 27, 2004 : (APPROXIMATE 1,100 TONNE DISCREPENCY BETWEEN LIBYA'S URANIUM STASH AND THE RECORDS OF ITS MAIN SUPPLIER, NIGER, ON URANIUM TRADE, ACCORDING TO IAEA ) This may have been the method being used by Libya before it agreed last December to abandon its secret nuclear programme. According to the IAEA, there are 2,600 tonnes of refined uranium ore - "yellow cake" - in Libya. However, less than 1,500 tonnes of it is accounted for in Niger records, even though Niger was Libya's main supplier. -- "Evidence of Niger uranium trade 'years before war'," by Mark Huband, FT, (Financial Times UK), Published: 06/27/04, Last Updated: June 27 2004 21:56, http://news.ft.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=FT.com/StoryFT/FullStory&c=StoryFT&cid=1087373295039&p=1012571727085

Anyone remember the little to-do over an operation ran out of the island of Nauru? Yep, it all part of this neverending Libya/Niger/Iraq story...

OCTOBER 2002 : (OPERATION WEASEL BEGINS : US & 10 OTHER COUNTRIES WOULD ARRANGE FOR THE DEFECTIONS OF UP TO 20 TOP NORTH KOREAN OFFICIALS, INCLUDING KEY NUCLEAR SCIENTISTS) The United States and at least 10 other countries helped arrange the defections of up to 20 top North Korean officials including key nuclear scientists in an operation that began in October, according to an Australian newspaper. -- "20 officials defect from North Korea," By Doug Struck, WASHINGTON POST, Mon, Apr. 21, 2003
