correct me if i'm wrong, but the fall of saigon took place under NIXON...a republican.

which would make this poster pointless.

by the time Nixon took office, the left had so arguably poisoned the atmosphere re: Vietnam in America that our strategy became "exit with honor."

I blame the Vietnam disaster on the left, and their incessant carping.

How so? Kerry is proud of what Nixon did...isn't he? We are conservatives first...then republicans BTW.

Just to clear this up complete for everybody who's confused:

1. John & John are using "Let America be America Again" as their campaign slogan.
2. This comes from a Langston Hughes poem.
3. This poster is a satirical Photoshop creation, using the Kerry slogan together with a picture of the evacuation of Saigon.
4. The effect is intended to be ironic commentary on America's prospects under a Kerry administration.

Not Nixon, Ford.

And, it was the democrats in media and congress who undermined and defunded S. Vietnam over the last 4 years (71-75) of it's existence.

The symbolism of American military defeat is very much attached to the American anti-military party: the democrats.

Kerry and his Viet Veterans against the War (VVAW), Jane Fonda, Tom Hayden, Walter Crankcase, Ramsey Clark and many, many other leftists bear a large responsibility for the craven way the war ended.

Under huge pressure from the left, at the end we declared victory and got out, leaving the hapless South Vietnamese to the tender mercies of their brethren to the north.

This picture has to be a put-on. Surely not even Kerry is that dumb.

This is the vision of America that the Birkenstockers wish to revisit upon us -a nation of retreaters, from Vietnam, this time. Let America be America indeed, from the peom by Langston Hughes.

You are wrong. Actually Ford was President when Saigon fall. It didn't fall because of GOP Vietnam policies. Nixon's policies brought the North to the peace table and let us get out, gracefully at the time, while promising the South sufficient material support to maintain themselves and additional support if the North broke their pledges. Alas Nixon was paranoid enough to blow his Presidency on the completely unnecessary Watergate affair. With the weak, unelected Ford as President the Congressional post-Watergate class of Kerry's fellow antiwar protesters dominated Washington and forbade any help for the South when the lying North invaded. THEY lost Vietnam. Kerry wanted to be in that Congress, but even Massachusetts wasn't yet ready for him. The poster isn't pointless. Those old enough to remember (I was 17) either grieve it or, in the case of those like Kerry, celebrate it.

LOL. I wonder how many younger liberals will get this poster.

Liberals, specially the "progressives", lack the "comprehension" gene.

The South Koreans are fortunate that this man Kerry was not born earlier. They would be eating tree bark under the rule of a midget Communist turd that stuffs himself on imported caviar and lobster. Liberals could never order the Hyundai's and Kia's. Thank God Kerry was born later or the world would have millions more under Communism.

Ummmm...it's not a creation of the Kerry campaign. I thought that much was clear, but I guess not.
