Senate President Pro Temp John Burton has threatened to stall the budget process because of Governor Schwarznegger for his "girlie men" comments!! He states the comments have stalled the process for at least another TWO WEEKS! Can you believe it? (THEY REALLY ARE GIRLIE MEN!!!)
I was so mad I called and asked the receptionist if I was reading my paper correctly? She said I was. I asked her if she realized that the "girlie men" comment was once a joke made "ABOUT" the Governor.. and now he made the comment in a joking manner about the lawmakers in a speech about getting the budget passed. She said yes, they all realized it. I told her "you've GOT to be kidding me!"
I said that as a citizen who paid taxes, it mattered to me that the budgets were passed on time. That if the Democrats were so thin skinned that they didn't know when something was a JOKE, then they really needed to get over themselves. Perhaps they needed to watch a little more tv and get out more!! I told them this was going to backfire on them BIG TIME!
PLEASE everyone, call them!!! Voice your OUTRAGE over something so insane!
Voice your outrage that they NOW ARE THREATENING IN WRITING to newspapers to stall the process by TWO MORE WEEKS for the Governors comments. COMMENTS that I laughed about and recognized from the Saturday Night Skit they originated from!!

Why call? If they delay the process for TWO WEEKS over a harmless joke that the Governor told, they will hurt themselves far, far worse than they will hurt Arnold. I'd call and encourage them to stall for two weeks--heck, stall for three weeks. It will only make them look petty and small.

Copy this and pass it around in your e-mails. It was in my local paper, so I know it's out there. (I couldn't find a link to the article. But it was by Tom Chorneau, titled "Lawmakers in a snit" and under that in smaller letters it said "Governor's "girlie men" jibe snarls budge" posted in todays paper July 20, 2004).
This way, the phone numbers are there for our local citizens to be able to call and voice their displeasure. I know I'm mad as heck!

You should have heard the girl who answered. At first she was very defiant. But as I started to say "You've GOT to be kidding.. over a JOKE? You do realize that this was a JOKE directed once AT the Governor right? One HE laughed at when it was directed AT HIM!
I think they need to be made to look EXTREMELY foolish. This could help Arnold get his Budget passed. This could backfire wonderfully! If we do this right! (LOTS OF CALLS!!!)

Yeah, either way, this will backfire.
The headlines will read: "DEMS, IN A TISSIE, HELD UP BUDGET FOR MONTHS, DUE TO GOV'S "GIRLIE MEN" REMARKS!"
