I’ve been told that there are retention problems with senior special forces. Seems that after 15 or 20 years, they’re being offered two year contract at $150 – 200k per year to work in Iraqi security. Couple that with retirement, and it’s hard to turn down.

Despite the skills lost, glad they fought a way to finally earn close to what they’re worth nevertheless.

I am also convinced that the Family program has played a major part in the Army's ability to retain their members. A spouse that is taken care of while their loved one is deployed is more like to be supportive if that member wants to reinlist.

Happy families makes happy soldiers.
Happy soldiers reinlist.

The Soldiers impacted by the Stop-Loss are counted as eligible for re-enlistment and the Army is actively perusing them to re-enlist.

Maybe perusing should be pursuing.
