Chris Matthews interepreted the Wash. Archive rule that you can't take notes without clearance to mean that you can't write anything down without proper clearance, not that you can't take them with you when you leave.

It all depends on what the definition of the word take is.

Yep. If it hadn't been for that one Border Patrol agent who just thought the guy seemed fishy (NO directives had been issued telling the Border Patrol to be on the lookout for anything), the LAX bombing probably would have occurred. Anyone in Washington DC who takes the slightest credit for that terrorist's arrest is a flat-out liar.
