Kerrey, who at the time was walking into the Mellon Auditorium on Constitution Avenue to help unveil the commission’s final report, apparently got upset after the two protesters yelled that Democrats could not be trusted with America’s national security.

"Do you think (former National Security advisor under the Clinton administration) Sandy Berger should go to jail for stealing secret classified documents?" Deming yelled, half-expecting Kerrey not to answer.

As Kerrey approached the pair on the sidewalk, Deming also yelled, "Hey Bob, are you gonna stay for the entire meeting today, or do you have a fund-raiser scheduled to attend?"

A veteran protest commando, Deming’s mission yesterday was to reiterate to the Sept. 11 commission that "the Clinton administration did not care about national security," only about covering up their mistakes, he said.

For those who may not know the background on this, Kerrey left the Commission's interview with President Bush early, so that he could attend a fund-raising event.

The article's sequence of events does not match what I saw on the video. For example, the "Hey Bob, are you gonna stay for the entire meeting today..." was the last comment yelled out as Kerrey was leaving. [Granted, it could have been said before Kerrey approached our intrepid protesters, but it certainly is a line worth repeating]. Also, if Kerrey's departure from the scene was "bolting" then that term equally applies to the rapid approach of Kerrey towards our heroes. I'd report it as "Almost at the entrance to the building, Kerrey turned and charged up to the protestors and then demanded to know their names."

Not too surprising that a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient would take exception with that one sign. He probably took it personally. Understandable, but he should have had the grace to laugh at the Lewinsky/Clinton sign. Seems as though Bob has lost his sense of humor and is paying for his poor performance as a 911 Commissioner.
