Boat focus of attention

REDWOOD CITY -- Scott Peterson's boat would not be easy to capsize, a prosecution expert testified Tuesday. But the boat model Peterson owns was not tested to see what would happen if someone tried to throw a pregnant woman's body overboard.

"The boat may be more sensitive than larger boats, but it is a very safe boat," said David Weber, whose Missouri company makes 14-foot aluminum Gamefisher boats like the one Peterson bought two weeks before his wife disappeared.

The jury took a brief field trip to look at Peterson's boat before Weber testified, delaying the start of Tuesday's court session about an an hour and 45 minutes.Bailiffs escorted the 12 jurors and five alternates through an underground walkway leading from the courthouse basement to a secure location nearby, where they viewed the boat........

TUESDAY

Jurors were taken to see Scott Peterson's boat, apparently in a secure parking facility near the courthouse. The public and media were prevented from attending. The jury was escorted by bailiffs and joined at the viewing by Peterson, the attorneys, judge and court staff. The actual viewing lasted less than 10 minutes, but delayed courtroom testimony for 1 hour and 45 minutes.

An engineer from the company involved in the manufacture of Peterson's boat testified the 14-foot aluminum craft would not be easy to capsize. But the expert, David Weber, said his company had never tested to see what would happen if someone tried to push a 150-pound mass out of the boat in ocean water.......

I'd really be surprised if the manufacturer said that the boat was easy to capsize. Reminds me of the "shoe expert" who testified at the OJ trial.

Dear Vice President Cheney:

Hi! How's the ol' election going? Bet you are real busy.

I hate to bother you, but I need a favor. Could you please send a note on my behalf to a fellow citizen of mine by the name of Mr. Lee Peterson of San Diego, CA? Mr. Peterson has recently disseminated a memo and fax, in which he addresses a Captain Savelli of the police. Mr. Peterson seems to compare his 31-yr-old son to a 14-yr-old child who was "railroaded". It would appear that Mr. Peterson is uncomfortable with the idea that his "kid" is quite grown up--not to mention, guilty of murder, or at very least, guilty of cruelty to his wife.

Please use your own judgment as to the contents of the note. I know you will not disappoint.

Many thanks,

A Citizen

Now we see where Scottie inherited his capacity for denying truth, even when it is staring him in his flabby face.

Ha! And we thought it was his mother!

Did you hear about this? On another site, and also on Nancy Grace (Court TV), I heard that Scott called a friend on the 24th while looking for Laci and left a msg on the answering machine: "Have you seen Laci today or yesterday?"

Why would Scott want to know if the friend had seen Laci on the 23rd? Had he not decided yet what he was going to say regarding when she "disappeared"?

And... is it too much to hope that the jury will hear this msg, and that when they do, that it will be clearly communicated to them that he said this on the 24th of Dec.?

Kudos to Christine Weicher of CBS!

That's right--CBS!

She is described as a "veteran CBS producer" and she has insisted that her network refer to Michael Cardoza (see bio in dictionary under definition of "puke") as defense advocate Michael Cardoza.

Source: NY Times article (will wonders never cease?) found on Websleuths Trial Updates for July 28.

My own little ol' opinion: It is beyond nauseating to see this stringy old bird, Cardoza, kissing the behind of Geragos, probably only b/c he has a case referral deal going with Geragos, and expects to get some of Geragos' leftover gravy after Geragos has inflated his reputation as Mr. Criminal Defense. As for the inflated reputation part, the hype about Geragos is about as accurate as the high ratings Enron's shares used to get.

I am no hand writing expert, but even I can tell from looking at his letter Lee Peterson is one very disturbed person.

Look at the letter closely. He prints some words, uses script writing on other words, and on some words there is a combination of printed plus script.

Yeah, it's weird the way he uses the script "s" and the printed "s", exchanging them randomly. It looks like he wrote this note in great haste.

I wonder why he is so agitated that he is whining. Could it be that those in the courtroom are seeing a different case from the one we are hearing about on TV? I mean, the man seems downright worried.

And he says he is a "concerned father". Always in the role of the protective parent. I understand the instinct at play, but by the time a person gets to be 31, his parents usually will at least acknowledge that he is a capable adult. Even my rather overprotective parents gave me credit for that! It's as though Lee will always see Scott as a young boy, helpless and in need of extreme protection. Scott is not helpless. Nor is he incapable of carrying the weight of his own actions, even if it is forced upon him. Even the media sees that.

Cameras in the courtroom on Thursday for the hearing. We will finally get to see some of this trial.

Kind of has me worried, why now? Are we going to hear a dismissal??? Sure hope not! Then there is NO justice in this world.

Hi runningbear!

This is the face of a Personality Disordered individual. And such a person, among other things, believes he's smarter than everyone else. His behavior throughout the unfolding of this entire dreadful reality should be enough to convict him!! Let's hope.

Never have I seen a more obviously guilty man; except, of course, for O.J.

Don't worry, blondee. It won't be a dismissal, that's for sure.

It won't be a mistrial either, IMO.

As for the bare possibility of a mistrial, I would say, FINE! If there were one, Scott would stay in jail and later, at the next trial, he'd have less money. Which would mean Geragos would be as gone as the "wild goose in winter", as Johnny Cash once put it.

And the prosecution would have tightened its case up, and IMO the evidence against Scott would be presented like 1, 2, 3! Amber might resist testifying again, but probably an appeal from Sharon would bring her into line. Furthermore, the tapes of the phone conversations might arguably be admitted w/o her. They'd still have the rest, including Scott's TV interviews.

BTW, it appears that we are not really going to see these Thursday proceedings on camera. I hear the judge is just going to allow the reporters to get some new stock footage to use as background for their updates.

I'm kind of glad about that. I didn't look forward to seeing footage of Geragos insulting and slandering Brocchini. I will say that Brocchini is no prize. But even if he has done some questionable things, the idea that someone as slimy, sleazy, and clearly dishonest as Geragos might take him to task for it... that would be the ultimate exercise in hypocrisy! The above is my opinion (as if everyone didn't already know!)

Since it's so late, this is the perfect time to make a remark about sleep deprivation.

When did Scott sleep???

I think 6 hours is about the minimum for a "first trip" (middle of the night), if there was one. Say... 9:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.?

Would he then have slept till about 9:30 a.m., and spent a half hour getting dressed while Martha Stewart was on TV? Leaving at 10:08?

I guess it could be done.

He was definitely very near home, btw home and warehouse, at 10:08.

He was definitely at his warehouse at approx. 11 a.m., if what I read about his computer trail is correct.

He was definitely at Berkeley Marina at 12:54 p.m., if he really paid for that ticket and didn't just pick up one that someone else had discarded.

He was definitely in Berkeley at about 2:15 p.m., since that's what the cellphone tower tells us.

He was definitely w/in 20 miles of Livermore at 3:54 p.m., since the cellphone towers tell us that, too.

He really did make that trip to Berkeley, but it seems so unlikely that he actually dumped the body during that brief time on the Bay. (No proof he was actually ON the Bay that afternoon, but he said he was and... why not?)

There just has to have been an earlier trip. Yet we hear nothing about this!

Not only did he use the script s and printed s he wrote whole words printed then others script and others with a combination of both.

Printed: Peterson, Your, wasn't, I'll, their , after, was, thrown, blood, old, very

Partial Script and Printed: botched, investigating, sweatshirt,

Then notice how the first letter of each word is printed, then in a few of the others the first letters are connected to the rest of the word.

Like I said I am not handwriting expert but I bet if one were to read this they would say Lee has some very deep problems.
