HOLLY HILL, Fla. -- A powerful bomb exploded in a Holly Hill park. Now investigators are on the scene to try to figure out what the bomb was made of and who set it off. They're saying it's a good thing no one was around when it went off, because this was a big bomb. Investigators are still looking for pieces of the bomb, which are scattered all over the place.
The bomb was in a trashcan there. Investigators say, this was no ordinary pipe bomb.
"This is not a chemical bomb that some kids did. This is a major explosion," an investigator told Channel 9.
The Volusia County Bomb Squad is on the scene making sure there are no more devices. They did have their dog out earlier and he didn't find anything.
Investigators are going to be on the scene for some time, trying to find every little piece of the bomb that they can.
If you have any information, there is a $2,500 reward for a tip that leads to an arrest.
I am going to be adult about this. Until: DanRatherPeterJenningsTomBrokawAaronBrownPaulaZahn&Associates tell me Bush is not to blame, I bet Bush is to blame because he has not fought the war on terror.
We have/had/? one up my way (chester country, PA) who was setting off pipe bombs in several different locations .. one was found in a shopping parking lot
I don't think they every found him .. but someone was able to give a description of what he looked like
I resemble that remark!
:-)
bump for later reading
Yeah, about 60 miles north of the Center. This'll show Kerry who's boss.
Strange choice of wording. I would expect:
"This is not a homemade bomb that some kids did."
or
"This is not a crude pipe bomb that some kids did."
I may be out of the loop, but I cannot recall an instance of kids making chemical bombs.
I noticed in Boston a few weeks ago that all the public trash cans were wire mesh, filled with see-through plastic, presumably to be able to see something like a bomb in there.
"..it was a really big bomb."
I bet it make a really big boom.
BUMP
Where is this in relation to a major city?
Summer intern?
No... they don't need to experiment like teenagers. They know how bombs work. This sounds more to me like a varsity teenage pipe bomb.
DemocRAT stronghold county...
"I may be out of the loop, but I cannot recall an instance of kids making chemical bombs."
Delinquency 101: Hydrochloric acid (found in the ubiquitous cleanser 'The Works') and aluminum foil inside a sealed container will react and expand, blowing up the container. Many a hand and mailbox were lost to these bombs in my neck of the woods.
There have been a few kids(and I think an adult) that have been placing drano bombs or soda pop bombs.. something to that affect in mailboxes in Florida. Just homemade chemicals made to explode when shaken.

Maybe law acadamese for carbide and water in a coke jug?
Used to live in that area. It's nestled between Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach to the north, mainland side of Halifax river.
Kerry knelt down to the injured deputy and told him that he had once served in Vietnam, and he said it in French.
Howl, did you see this?
Kerry in FL, what a coinky-dink....
