Having lunch with two ex co-workers (I loved working with them), but they are extreme liberals. I need to make sure I have my prep work down. Since I'm going to be wearing my "BUSH...SAVING YOUR ASS LIKE IT OR NOT T-shirt, I have to be prepared for the typical liberal onslaught of falsehoods.

Has anyone ever seen a document like this here on FR. I might as well just print it out and give it to them because I know from past experience these two are going to be spewing it all.

Well, "Bush lied" is the favorite - and both Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity have been hitting their Dem guests hard with the facts to the contrary - and only Terry McAwful budged in the slightests from his previous statements. So realize that you can hit a liberal with the facts, but you can't make him blink.

When they start in on you, just calmly say to them, "John Kerry has been in the US Senate for 20 years. Before you continue with what you are saying, list for me his legislative and leadership accomplishments during his 20 years in the Senate."

They can not do it. After 20 years not a single piece of legislation that has passed bears John Kerrys name as its sponsor. NOT ONE!

And his biggest legislative push, the decimation of our intelligence community was so radical and dangerous to America that he could not find a single co-sponsor, and even Ted Kennedy came out against it on the floor of the Senate!

Hildy, what I do in this situation with my husband's VERY liberal family is just tell them up front that I don't wish to discuss politics with them. It is pointless to argue facts and logic with illogical, intellectually dishonest people. IMO you won't change their mind and they won't change yours.

What I do if they refuse to keep politics out of it is I get up and walk out of the room. Granted that will be difficult to do if you are at lunch with these women, maybe you can excuse yourself to the restroom. I wouldn't wear the T-Shirt either, it will just stir things up unneccesarily. I keep my confrontational T-Shirts like that for FReeps.

Good Luck, make sure you take your Prilosec before you leave, you'll need it.

Oh, and of recent, RATS, Kerry, and Edwards have started to minimally mention Kyoto. But they call it the climate change treaty. They refuse to call it by its known name.

If they make any comments regarding Kerrys support for it, remind them that when Kerry had a chance to vote for Kyoto, he and every other Senator voted AGAINST. The Senate voted 98-0 AGAINST Kyoto.

Mmmm. The only way I can ever deal with this is not to talk politics at all, and certainly not bring it up myself. I'd lose the t-shirt.

But that's just me.

You could print this off and give them a copy. It should be a very lively discussion:

Joe 6-pack's "Questions for Liberals:"

1. If, conceding the liberal argument, homosexuality is a genetic predisposition, and a test becomes available to let expectant mothers know if their, "fetus," is predisposed to homosexuality, should that mother be allowed to abort the "fetus," on that basis? If she would abort a "homosexual fetus," does that constitute a "hate crime?" Does preventing her from doing so impose on a woman's right to choose?

2. If we were not meant to eat animals, why are they made out of meat?

3. Suppose you and one other person were shipwrecked on a desert island, not under the jurisdictional law of any state and/ or country. Is it morally right for that person to kill you, or you to kill that person to stretch the food supply? If not, what makes it morally wrong?

4. If sexual activity of any sort is "ok," provided it is between consenting adults, does this include incest between children over 18 and their parents? If not, why? Why not... 17? 16? 15? 14?

5. If the government can arbitrarily set the minimum wage at $5.35 an hour, why not set it at $200.00 an hour? Wouldn't this improve the lot of the poor and lower working class? To what degree should the employer be able to determine the value of labor?

6. If you over-paid a shop owner $20.00 for a new carpet cleaner, would you not expect a refund or credit? Would you consider it theft if the business kept the overpayment without refunding or crediting you? Does not, an anticipated multi-billion dollar surplus indicate an overpayment on the part of the American taxpayer?

7. If your 23-year old daughter had an internship with a major corporation, and had spent her summer on her knees, under the desk of the married CEO, would you demand his resignation, or support his retention because he had been a "good," CEO? What if the CEO lied outright about the incident in a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by your daughter?

8. Is it truly and logically possible to be governed by our consent without ultimately being given the resort of arms? How is it possible that a human can honestly and legitimately consent without owning the means to refuse?

9. What paragraph(s) of the Constitution outline the responsibilities of the Department of Education?

10. If we, as a nation and political system have no moral superiority over nations and governments, why do we spend public monies on maintaining memorials to those that have died in order to preserve and spread our way of life? Should we no longer fund these projects?

11. If reparations for past wrongs can be demanded by the descendants of the victims from the descendants of the perpetrators, should native Americans be named as defendants in law suits against the tobacco industry? If, as many Afro-centrist scholars contend, Ancient Egyptian Civilization was the product of black africans, are not the descendants of Israelite slaves who built the pyramids owed reparations?

12. If one maintains that Darwinian evolutionary theory should be taught as fact, and at the exclusion of all other theories in public schools, one must subscribe to the notion of "survival of the fittest." If one believes that, "survival of the fittest," is a natural, evolutionary process, does the Endangered Species Act set a dangerous precedent in man's interference with nature? Wouldn't the artificially protracted preservation of a species destined for extinction result in an ecological catastrophe?

13. If you knew for a fact that a person was HIV positive, would you allow your teen-ager to have sexual intercourse with that person if they promised to use a condom they got from the school nurse? Would you have intercourse with someone you knew was HIV+, as long as you used a condom?

Thanks to freeper Joe 6-pack for this list.

I always call Mr. Bush, "Moses" in front of my liberal friends. When asked why, I tell them, "Moses didn't talk too good, but he was chosen for great leadership." Sometimes I even mention God. This has driven some of them crazy!

Thats not what happened. To be accurate, the question should regard his testimony in response to someone other than your daughter filing suit.

Also, Drop 6. We do not have a surplus currently.

That's my favorite one, and it works EVERY TIME. Its simple, to the point, and very direct. The will spin it, because that is what they do best, so adding that yes, kerry did serve in Nam, please answer my question. They will spin it again, and yes, I know what Bush has done, but I am asking about kerrys record in the senate....

I have used this several times, and have yet to get an answer. As a matter of fact, I was told, "there is no sense in talking to you because you wont listen"

Really??? and you wont answer the question.....

I REFUSE to be QUIET with anyone ANYMORE about politics....our nation DEPENDS upon us speaking up, whether we have to argue with "illogical, intellectually dishonest people" or not. It's MY contribution to FREEDOM and the the FREEDOM of my CHILD and GRANDCHILDREN.....all IMHO.

I understand that and forgot to ping the original thread poster to it as well.

But printing it out and handing it to them as is will cause problems and end your credibility as soon as they get to the surplus question.

Ask them to listen to John Kerry's 55 minute speech tonight at the DNC..THAT SHOULD TURN THEM OFF, or either put them in a coma.

"...the the FREEDOM of my CHILD..."

Anyone willing to vote for Kerry is willing to sacrifice future generations to the subjugation of the UN and World Court. Death can result.

I don't think I made myself clear. WE ALWAYS TALK POLITICS. It's why I loved working with them so much. Plus, they're men, which is another reason I love to stick it to them! Laughing about how much we disagree politically was the basis of our relationship!!!!
