V A N I T Y - Subversive activities on FR?
None | 08-01-04 | Trident/Delta

Posted on 08/01/2004 6:31:53 PM PDT by Trident/Delta

Fair Warning, This is a VANITY rant.

I have been watching (lurking), for quite a while. I have come to the conclusion that, since FR has almost assumed "icon" status as an alternative news outlet, there seems to have been an "organized" effort at using FR as a vehicle for subverting thought.

Most recently, there have been some interesting banter, usually between the same individuals, about how much better CNN has become and how FNC has degraded, and how "so and so" isn't watching FNC anymore because of.....(insert some bogus issue here).....

After you break the code, it is almost hysterical to watch.

The usual targets seem to be Fox News Channel, ANY gun post, and FR in general.

I would just caution and advise all of us old-timer, hard-corps Freepers, be aware that you may be the subject of manipulation on the part of the notorious "seminar callers" of Rush Limbaugh fame.

As a note of warning to the "opinion shapers" that think they are being clever on FR. I have been documenting chapter and verse and send it to the Mods regularly.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled threads........

Semper Fidelis

I've never once before posted anything about CNN or Fox News, but now that you mention it...
I think that CNN is better than it was before Fox News came out; and I believe this is a direct result of them losing massive market share to a right-of-center news organization. Before Fox News, you had a bunch of left-leaning news orgs duking it out for market share and no non-liberal representation. As could be expected, when a news organization finally came along without all the liberal bias, it soon garnered dominating market share from the half of the U.S. population that was sick and tired of the liberal news media. CNN has seemed less obvious with it's bias since getting trounced by Fox in the ratings. They know the reasons behind it.
With that being said, Fox can be embarrassingly sensationalistic at times, and dwells way too heavily on tabloid fodder.
Now hurry up and add me to your list of subversives before my incorrect thoughts corrupt anyone on this forum.

Why are you doing that grunt work yourself?

I thought you had 'people' to do that trivial stuff for you.

Well, lets face it, FOX NEWS has degraded. It's true. It would be called Celebrity Justice if only the name wasn't already taken. And of course there is still the time honored tradition of no event too important not to be interrupted by a car chase. And the only "pinhead" on the O'Reilly Factor is the host.

And could we get some substance once in a while..? Perhaps a segment that lasts for more than 30 seconds? Maybe some actual reporting that isn't from outside a court room?

And oh yeah.. if I hear Sean Hannity call John Kerry a "war hero" one more time, I'm going to go postal.

But is CNN better..?
HELL NO.

I do enjoy the occassional MSNBC or CNBC though.

I see your point in context, but keep in mind there is no subversion if that which they wish to change does not change(here we are speaking of attitudes, principles, etc). FR is comprised largely of individuals who have rock-solid notions of who we are and what we value; I assure you I'm not ripe for subversion.

I figured as we get closer to November there will be an onslaught of propaganda, if nothing more than slinging chaff to keep distractions up.

Stay focused!

If it weren't for Imus on MSNBC, The Daily Show on The Comedy Channel and Seinfeld reruns on FOX and TBS, and C-SPAN for everything else, I wouldn't have a TV.

Take it to the bank . . . . and the mods.

Trident/Delta and I go way back to the days of DITHF.

Now I'm from Illinois not Missouri, but before I put much stock in anything T/D says, he's got to show me.

That's a good one.

I'm watching Kelley's Heros right now.

"What bothers me most, and has for about a year, is when people pop up with '98 screen names- people I've NEVER heard of. Either they're selling '98 names on Ebay, or hacking the server is up for discussion. Makes me wonder."

Why? You interested in buying one?

Make ME wonder why Dec31,1999 registered on 6/19/99.

I have said some things against fox, because I have to mute the tv half the time (when ever a dem is on, wich seems to be more and more lately) if I watch them. So I find that I just get my news from the internet most of the time. Saves my tv from destruction.

That said, I never even bother with the others any more. If I am going to watch the news on tv it is fox.

Mostly I am waiting for a conservative news channel. sigh

Agree with the posters who have said there's way too much Scott/Lacy Peterson,Michael Jackson,Kobe Bryant on Fox

I'd much prefer that they wait until those trials are over, then tell one thing - guilty or innocent, then don't say anything else about them until after they are sentenced and then only tell how much time the guilty Bas***** got.

Used to like Greta but now consider her a total waste. Gearld Rivers is a monumental joke.

To the author: I am so rabidly right wing I even suspect myself of being slightly liberal. For instance, I don't think Clintoon should be hanged, just locked away out of sight for the rest of MY life.

Better report my arse to the mods too.

I know more about the 'DITHF' flap than you do squid, -- so whats your point?

Now I'm from Illinois not Missouri, but before I put much stock in anything T/D says, he's got to show me.

Show you what?
I just 'showed you' three gun threads that are infested by a bunch of clowns that fight ~against~ our RKBA's.
They do this at FR all day every day, just as T/D pointed out.
How much proof do you need?
