Fair Warning, This is a VANITY rant.
I have been watching (lurking), for quite a while. I have come to the conclusion that, since FR has almost assumed "icon" status as an alternative news outlet, there seems to have been an "organized" effort at using FR as a vehicle for subverting thought.
Most recently, there have been some interesting banter, usually between the same individuals, about how much better CNN has become and how FNC has degraded, and how "so and so" isn't watching FNC anymore because of.....(insert some bogus issue here).....
After you break the code, it is almost hysterical to watch.
The usual targets seem to be Fox News Channel, ANY gun post, and FR in general.
I would just caution and advise all of us old-timer, hard-corps Freepers, be aware that you may be the subject of manipulation on the part of the notorious "seminar callers" of Rush Limbaugh fame.
As a note of warning to the "opinion shapers" that think they are being clever on FR. I have been documenting chapter and verse and send it to the Mods regularly.

They tried subverting thought long ago. But no one is watching ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN anymore.
And a correction to your post: FR has assumed icon status.

I completely agree, that's the only thing that turns me off. I can watch tabloid tv on any other station if I desire. I wish they'd stop those reports. Or, show them at 3 am.

We did have one case where a poster named "Asmodeus" turned out to be working for a tort lawyer ginning up a case against Boeing for TWA 800. I googled around and figured out who he was. He was quite furious when I accused him on an FR forum.
I loooove the smell of burning troll in the morning.
I bet we also get paid astroturfing FOR the Drug War (the ONDCP is excempt from laws against domestic propaganda, so it could even be government funded), and AGAINST tax reform, among other things. You get posters that post big tracts of cut and paste blah blah, and their main message is "Things will never change, give up."
I dont mind saying that I sometimes watch CNN and that Bill O'Reilly sucks ass as a host and interviewer.
Does that make me a tofu eating LW fruitloop?
