According to Kerry's peers, two of his wounds which earned purple hearts were both superficial and self-inflicted. In one case, he apparently got hit with dry rice! The questions surrounding the details of John Kerry's purple hearts reminded me of a M*A*S*H episode. Major Frank Burns, the sniveling idiot who had no respect from his peers or his subordinates, got an egg shell in his eye. He tried to get a purple heart citing "shell fragment in eye"! Since Kerry also has little respect from his "Band of Brothers" and apparently got medals under exaggerated claims, I am now referring to the candidate as Major Frank Burns whenever I get a chance. If anyone out there can get me a photo of Kerry morphed into Burns, I would greatly appreciate it! One that also has pretty-boy Edwards morphed into Major Margaret Houlihan would be icing on the cake! Thanks!!!!!!!

Yeah -- but not intentionally for self-aggrandizement. Barney may have been an oaf, but he wasn't cynically calculating the way Kerry was.
One thing Burns had over Kerry is that Burns was actually dedicated to the military (even if he was a jerk.) Kerry was just checking off a rung on the resume ladder.
The Frank Burns character was supposed to be a conservative Republican, as was Houlihan, at least while she was with Frank.
True. As was Franks replacement (forget name, blue blood FDR hater from Boston).
Hollywood never misses a chance to trash republicans.

Well Jeez!! While we are asking for help, let me add a project to the list!
I have wanted to create a "Warning Label" like the ones on medicine packages that warn not to drive or use heavy equipment when using.
My idea is a label that warns (something to the effect):
"Warning, do not drive or operate heavy equipment while listening to this man speak. Drowsiness and lethargy are frequent side effects. Continued exposure to his speeches may trigger a comatose condition in some people. If nausea and anxiety occur, turn off your radio or TV immediately"
I think it would be humorous to print this below a photo of Kerry, or superimposed the lable OVER the picture. I would be delighted if it were passed around the internet.
I know my 'puter for business purposes, but think I would screw it up if I tried to create it myself. :o)

Although they portrayed him as a pompous elitist, on a Christmas episode, it was he who made a huge gift to the orphans in -secret-.
He also helped a patient who was stutterer because, unknown to anyone else, his sister Honoria was a stutterer.
He helped a pianist who lost his arm regain his self-confidence by acquiring piano sheet music written for one hand.
For all that the writers tried to make him appear a boorish snob, periodically we caught glimpses of his true self; someone who did help others but insisted that they help themselves, as well.
He did not "help" by offering fawning pity.
Of all the characters, he had the most dignity and self-respect, both of which were, of course, mocked mercilessly by the oh-so-enlightened "liberal" characters.
Radar, Col. Potter and Winchester carried that show after Hunnicutt and Pierce had degraded into self-conscious charicatures of "typical" liberal whiners.
Alan Alda became the poster boy for "sensitive men" and some women decided that's what they wanted in a guy.
The rest is metrosexual history....:-\
Ah, brings to mind one of my favorite dialogue exchanges of all time:
Burns - "Why do people take an instant dislike to me?"
Trapper John - "Saves time, Frank."
If that doesn't sum up John F'n Kerry, I don't know what does...
While in college, serving on a committee that brought speakers to campus, I was responsible for driving Larry Linville (Frank Burns) and his wife for a few days. You couldn't have met a nicer or funnier guy. Very classy.
A friend of mine says the same thing. He met Larry Linvelle shortly before his death and couldn't say enough nice things about him. For me, Larry/Frank made the show. He was MASH's perfect comic foil. The loss of Trapper John and his subsequent replacement with the weak BJ Honeycutt was too much to bear. Most importantly, though, was the dramatically ingenious loss of Col. Henry Blake. Not everybody made it home from Korea, and his departure was the most honest thing about the entire show.
That is irrelevant. Archie Bunker was a big union guy. I know they made a big deal out of them being "career army", but not much was made of party affiliation. I realize M*A*S*H was a generally liberal show with such writers a Linda Bloodworth. None of that changes the fact that Kerry embodies Burns both in his attempts to gain medals he didn't deserve and in the lack of respect he got from his peers.

Ironically, the stunts Hawkeye pulled on Hot Lips and the other females would make Tailhook look like a church picnic today. I found it interesting that Linda Bloodworth, a big Clinton supporter, was a writer for M*A*S*H. During the M*A*S*H days, such stunts were considered funny, not sexual harassment. But when it was convenient to bash Clarence Thomas, sexual harassment became Bloodworth's battle cry in her show, "Designing Women."
