CRITICAL - The Devastating "Swift Boat Vets" Ad Must Stay on Television Until the Election!
Swift Boat Vets ^ | 8-4-04 | Bob J

Posted on 08/04/2004 5:40:42 PM PDT by Bob J

This is the type of commercial the pubs should be running, but won't.
It's devastating for Kerry and shows him to be the lying, cowardly traitor that he is.

WE FREEPERS NEED TO DO OUR PART TO MAKE SURE IT STAYS ON THE AIR UNTIL THE ELECTION!

John Kerry’s entire life has been a stage play. Fortunately he is not original. His service in Viet Nam was scripted, as was his Silver Star. For that he took a page from Lyndon Johnson’s playbook. Lyndon Johnson’s Silver Star It is disturbing that someone would be so manipulative and self-serving in the pursuit of power but it is more disturbing that it has worked - so far.

During those years in the Senate Kerry was far from inactive. He kept a low profile while dogging Reagan and Bush I. He kept his ideological cast but provided no great target for a future race for the White House. He was watching every race to see what went wrong and what went right. You can recognize themes from past races in every speech. He learned from Clinton to go into your weaknesses early and define them before your opponent can. What he speaks loudest about is what he considers his weakest points.

His campaign is completely formulistic. What is formulistic is predictable. What is predictable is defeatable, but not by a constrained approach. He has already accounted for the expected rebuttal.

There are things that the Bush campaign just cannot say and will not say. Normally you would expect Republican Senators to realize this and step up, say what needs to be said and give the campaign some running room in the middle, but they haven’t. If they go too far outside they run the risk of someone saying something really stupid.

This ad is perfect. These are credible guys with a credible message. They are a pinprick in a large balloon. Kerry is worried. He has known that these guys were out there. I have no doubt that the 32 page response was prepared a long time ago.

Better yet. this is a water cooler ad. It is being shown and talked about in the news segments. It’s effectiveness is magnified. Every person who sees it is going to discuss it with ten more around the water cooler. It may not affect the polling numbers but it has reset the dynamics of the race. It’s a winner.

We are physically running out the door, but we donated 50 dollars to these hero's add!

Praying that this add will stay on the air for as long as possible. The TRUTH must be heard. I'm sure a lot of Vietnam vets like us feel the same way and rushed out to donate too.

God Bless their efforts.

BTW, how DARE John McCain think he speaks for all of us! How dare he think his service is better than every veteran who ever served or that his service was more noble. The men in this add are hero's too! They have a right to be heard, and it is a sad day in America when the ONLY way they COULD be heard was when they HAD TO BUY AIR TIME!!!

The ONLY disgrace is McCain shooting off his mouth about them excercising THEIR FREE SPEECH!

SHAME ON McCAIN!

Does anyone have a written TRANSCRIPT of the full ad? I don't have audio set up on my computer right now...

There's another way to look at it. By saying it's a big negative for Bush, he is insulating the Bush administration from complicity in the ad campaign. Meanwhile, the Swift Boat vets will keep this issue front and center.

Not trying to spoil the party here, but what happens if the ad never airs? Where would my donation go?

I'm told the ad is already playing in some midwestern swing states.

I've done what I can to promote this effort through my latest column, which should be published on ChronWatch.com by the end of today (Saturday). As I just explained to a couple media people I'm friends with, John Kerry has a blind spot which I first observed in debating against him 41 years ago.

He tends to fall in love with his own ideas, and lacks the perspective to see the holes in his own logic, or the counterattacks that are likely to come. Applying that to the Swift Boat ads, Kerry made the decision to make Vietnam the centerpiece of his acceptance speech without considering the counterattack that would be generated. He opened the door, now others are driving a truck through that door.

(Bob J, I've had some computer crashes of late. Are my columns still going to the proper person in FRN? If not, please send me an e-mail reminding me of the e-mail addy of the correct person.)

McClennan was very precise in his statement. He condemned "all 527 organization ads" and said that the campaign would be better if "none of them were running." Translated, that means that as long as MoveOn.org has ITS ads on the air, the Swifties have every right to keep there ads on the air.

He did NOT condemn the Swifty ad all by itself. The Bush people are a lot smarter than that.

A video released last week by the Swift Boat Veterans For Truth (www.swiftvets.com), an organization aiming to refute John Kerry’s Vietnam war record, proves to be highly effective in raising questions among Independents about the Democratic candidate's military service.

The Swift Boat video – primarily a montage of outspoken Vietnam veterans claiming that Kerry has lied about his Vietnam service – was found by a majority of Independents to be persuasive, with 53.89% responding that this was the case.
