Scene in old Simpsons episode (was made for Kerry)
8/5/04 | i cant stand it

I was watching a Simpsons rerun last night and I caught something very funny. I don’t know the name of the episode but it had something to do with the Duff beer man getting fired. Any way, the Simpsons dog Santa’s little helper tries to do something heroic but fails so that the Duff beer man can "save the day". As the dog cowers from his task Skinners Mother says "What a coward, and I know cowards" as she turns to look at Skinner. Skinner replies "I served in Vietnam". His mother quickly replies back "and you've been whining about it for thirty years".

I like the one where the "real" Skinner shows up. When the town runs him off he whines "but is served in Vietnam"

Hey, PFC Tanzarian served honorably...

Of course, what he did once he came back home weren't quite right...

Mayor Quimby is an obvious rip on a Kennedy.

Another funny Vietnam vet who can't get over it, is Walter from the movie The Big Lebowski. Walter, played by John Godman associates everything, from bowling to love with his Vietnam experience. We watched the John Kerry speech at home here and kept laughing out heads off thinking how much Kerry sounds like Walter. Walter however is honest and brave, unlike Kerry. Check out the Big Lebowski!

The Simpsons is actually a pretty conservative show.

Regardless of political bent, it's hysterically funny, I love it and watch it every chance I get.

( And I really think Lisa will grow out of it...)

:-)

Why? She hasn't in the past fifteen years. Come to think of it, she hasn't grown at all in that time... hmmm. :-)

Walter: "I didn't watch my buddies die face-down in the muck, so that this strumpet...this WHORE...can..."

Dude: "Walter, this has nothing to do with Vietnam."

Walter: "Well, there's not a *literal* connection..."

Dude: "No, Walter...face it, there isn't ANY connection."

My favorite was the episode where Bill Clinton tells Lisa that sometimes it's OK to lie.

Marge says "thats a pretty lousy lesson to teach a child"

Clinton replies "Thats OK, I was a pretty lousy president"

Also like the mayor of Springfield (Diamond Joe Quimby)
