In turn, so many people appreciate his accessibility, his genuine friendliness, his sincerity -- all of which go a long way in compensating for his shortcomings, not that they are egregious ones, but rather the shortcomings of any human being.

Not to be a nattering nabob of negativity or anything, but a very similar story was published in 2001, especially the part where the president was behind that author at the greeting and made a special effort to make contact after the normal period for greeting had ended.

I'm not saying it couldn't have happened twice to two different people over the course of a few years. I'm just saying I have heard this story before.
