The 1994 semiautomatic or so-called assault weapons ban expires Sept. 13. The media drumbeat to reauthorize it has begun, and some politicians are dancing to the familiar tune. Instead of merely reauthorizing the ban, however, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-L.I.) seeks to ban more guns and implement a national registration scheme. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the assault weapons ban sponsor, said on CBS' "60 Minutes," "If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate for an outright ban, picking up every one of them - Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in - I would have done it." The gun control agenda has never been stated more honestly.
This new legislation is one step toward that agenda.
The assault weapon debate is ruled by emotion, not fact. That's why in the elections following enactment of the ban, gun owners went to the polls in great numbers and, for the first time in 134 years, unseated the speaker of the House. That's why President Bill Clinton told the Cleveland Plain Dealer: "The fight for the assault weapons ban cost 20 members their seats in Congress." That's why in March 1996, 239 members of the House voted across party lines to repeal the Clinton gun ban.
The debate is not about so-called assault weapons. It's about banning guns. Anti-gun advocates claim, without credible evidence, these guns are the weapons of choice for criminals. It's a lie. A day after the gun ban was signed into law, a Washington Post editorial admitted, "Assault weapons play a part in only a small percentage of crime. The provision is mainly symbolic; its virtue will be if it turns out to be, as hoped, a steppingstone to broader gun control."
The radical Violence Policy Center states: "The public's confusion over fully automatic machine guns vs. semiautomatic assault weapons - anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun - can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons." Fully automatic machine guns were, of course, effectively banned in 1934.
As the drumbeats roll and attempts to dismantle the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans continue, the National Rifle Association will continue to fulfill its 133-year-old tradition of preserving freedom for law-abiding Americans.
Cox is executive director of National Rifle Association's Institute for Legislative Action.
Final point is that the criminal element doesn't follow laws now. why do they think such will change with more feel good legislation that disarms the victim.
Clearly the socialist democratic agenda is to diasarm the general populace of law abidding people. They wan't to make arm chair felons from armed chair patriots. Easy to say what I would and would'nt do . Easier for the idiots to rant about why one "needs" an AR-15 vs a bolt action rifle. Really easy to vote these seditious bastards back to civilian status to enjoy the real world they impose on the sheeple.
Socialists don't want to play this game as presstitutes can't protect em if such were to bear fruit.
Stay safe Jack....
Yes, but they were accompanied by other grunts with BARs, Thompson and M-3 grease guns, as well as various light to heavy machine guns. The other side's infantry was mostly armed with bolt action Mausers.
I don't know if I could afford to own one no matter how cheap the firearm was; sorta like shootin' anything between nickels and quarters downrange at a rate of 300 / min! They are expensive to shoot!
However, in the US Army, some of the most fun I had (aside from launching grenades or shooting LAWs) was firing the M-2HB. Pain in the but to clean, though - heavy springs, and massive assemblies. The reciever alone weighed at least 50 lbs.!
One of the secret's to the US Army's firepower was that fact that we put .50 cals on everything sturdy enought to hold 'em!
Re; Ammo prices. Supply and demand. Government over regulation is choking certain markets. This is true in more than just the firearms, and related, industries.
Hopefully, in 12 years, I'll be able to take the same kind of photo of my daughter. 11 months is a little young to be starting her on a full auto... ;-)
Do the Federales regulate the ammo industry? I haven't noticed.
I'd love to own a working Thomson SMG or a BAR, almost as much as I'd like a Winchester M1887 or a Broomhandle Mauser.
If you say so ........
;
Start here. Google the rest.
Funny how much INFRINGEMENT there is at the Federal Level despite the clear language of the document that is supposed to give them their pwoer to begin with.
Until she can consistanly hit her mouth with a spoon, I'm not gonna let her try and sling lead either. Until then, she'll just have to watch Daddy do it.
If this is a valid criteria then humblegunner is in trouble!
The suppressed Mac-10 goes great with the Disney shirt! Bet she'd love a t-shirt with the following image, if you can still find one:
It ain't jus' me ya' unnerstan'? Her mother'd get a might bit upset with me if the girlchild came home smelling of burnt cordite. ;-)
The Bullet Hole Range outside of San Antonio sell those shirts!!
Thank you, El gato. I was certain a fellow history buff would point out those very facts. German MG squads (especially those employing the MG42) more than took up the slack for their comrades cranking the bolts of their Mausers. Also, every American owes a debt to John Moses Browning, for his masterpieces of full-auto weaponry. I think that where I was going there, was: If all the American people will be able to field in any significant numbers will be semi-auto Mini-14s, Mini-30s, MAC 90s, etc., should the need arise, (and I suppose I should ad the
obligatory "God forbid," here) There is reason to believe we could prevail.... at least until we liberated some of the full-auto stuff from the tyrant. After all, we are paying for it with our taxes. Let's make sure we keep what we have, pass it on to worthy family and friends when we depart, and snap up those hugh-cap mags ever' chance we get.
Looks like to make a trip to SA.
"Looks like I need to make a trip to SA."
My spelling is bad enough, I don't need to confuse things even more by skipping entire words.....
I suppose it depends on the time of day. ;-)
Bottom line is the only effective means of defending our rights as citizens is being tested by the Marxists. Once the second amendment is repealed, the Democrat gestapo will send the dogs out to everyone that has a registered carrying permit. They will then take both gun and owner away.
