The more telling point is that nothing he has done since then (Vietnam) sustains the claim that he would be an effective leader in the war we face today any more than George McGovern's 35 combat missions in World War II, which won him the Distinguished Flying Cross, qualified him to lead us in the Cold War.
The Cold War also provides our best measuring stick for estimating how Kerry might perform as commander in chief, and in that conflict Kerry's instincts were always awry. Had the country heeded his counsel, we might not yet have won it.
Many leaders had a hand in Washington's Cold War triumph, but Ronald Reagan's contributions were pivotal, and Kerry opposed every one of them.
All in all, in his 20 years in the Senate, Kerry ranks as one of the five most dovish or liberal members on foreign policy if you tally up the key votes selected by the liberal advocacy group, Americans for Democratic Action.

You're right .. they did do that
But I'm not sure that will work again this time

This is not GGG related, but I think you might enjoy reading it.
I tried them -- their passwords don't seem to work in the major publications, like the LAT, NYT, WPost.
But I'll try them for the smaller papers, where I want to read an occasional article and don't want to go through the whole registration routine.
This is worse that adultery and Kerry did that too,to his first wife.
I'm really impressed that someone who clearly did NOT vote for President Bush in 2000,can see the truth about the man,and write about it.
Thanks for the freepmail FairOpinion.
You newshounds are a lurkers best friend.
Brenda
You are welcome.
Now you can see, that based on his Senate record of obstructing everything we tried to do to make the country safe, he should not become president.
Of course but its not the record he's chosen to run on. His refrain is "I served four months in Vietnam."
Don't fret over me. I am a loyal George Bush fan and even sent money for his reelection campaign, a tiny sum to the GOP and even a small donation to the Swiftvets (something that I have never done before). Also, have assisted in registering 3 friends and my 19 year old daughter to vote for President Bush. Georgia will go to Bush, but I want a landslide; if it isn't close they can't cheat.
I am a lurker, but the good kind. I want the knowledge so that I can attack the sheeple when they chant their ABBs.
Thanks. The site works great and I've bookmarked it. ;)
I just tried it, thanks for the tip. Bugmenot rules.
Excellent post. Thanks.
<< It is worth registering at the LATimes, just to read it.
After those scumbags, in coordination with cli'toon henchmen, tried to shut down this very site .... nothing is worth registaring with those stinking Nazi's! >>
Not to mention that your own arrogantly-elitist and supercillious-MadIvan-esque "absolute must read" would in any case have put off every intelligent observer.
Or, as is the case here, have occasioned one to click on your post just to tell you so.
Bump to top.
Thanks! That was a real timesaver.
