According to a Kerry campaign source, senior campaign advisers tasked two Washington-based campaign staffers to vet the recently published Unfit for Command.
"The purpose was to compare what that book had with what we had on file from Senator Kerry," says the campaign source, who said that the research project developed more than 75 instances where Kerry's recollections, previous remarks, or writings conflicted with the book's reporting.
"We took some of the most glaring examples, like the Christmas in Cambodia story, and presented them to senior staff, and we assume that those things were put in front of Senator Kerry," says the source. "We haven't heard a word about it. All we were told is that it was being taken care of."
The campaign source said that the book was not considered a "serious" problem for the campaign, because, "the media wouldn't have the nerve to come at us with this kind of stuff," says the source.
"The senior staff believes the media is committed to seeing us win this thing, and that the convention inoculated us from these kinds of stories. The senior guys really think we don't have a problem here."
- "..senior campaign[Kerry Campaign] advisers tasked two Washington-based campaign staffers to vet the recently published Unfit for Command...."
----This affirms the Kerry Campaign is keenly aware of the contradictions and charges.
- the research project developed more than 75 instances where Kerry's recollections, previous remarks, or writings conflicted with the book's reporting..."
---This confirms the candidates knowledge of the contradicitions and the refusal to address them is suspect.
- "...he most glaring examples...presented them to senior staff...We haven't heard a word about it. All we were told is that it was being taken care of."
---A probable reference to threats of legal action made to the television stations or the disinformation campaign regarding those making the charges, or the "brown books" which have been reported in the press.
- "...senior staff believes the media is committed to seeing us win this thing, and that the convention inoculated us from these kinds of stories. The senior guys really think we don't have a problem here"
--The Kerry Campaign is admitting to a media bias in their favor. If nothing is done to counter that assertion, we are free to draw our own conclusions.
Action Needed:
- Contact by letter as many members of the mainstream media as we can.
- Be respectful & refrain from accusations of media bias and lying.
- Avoid stating conclusions. Exhibit the same standards we are asking of the media, the candidates and the veterans.
- Ask for facts. Do not play tit-for-tat, do not use the left's favorite "They do it too!" response. This has nothing to do with the Bush Campaign and we should not give them fodder for that charge.
What we are asking for is TRUTH
The charges made by the Swift Boat Veterans are between the Veterans and Kerry. We do not have a dog in that fight. Our issue is TRUTH. We cannot rely on John Kerry's word alone, the Swift Boat Veterans word alone, or the opinions of those who have not been privy to the facts. Our obligation is to demand the same forum for the Veterans as Kerry had on his return from Viet Nam. Only then will the TRUTH emerge.
Perception is reality. If the media witholds information which could have a direct outcome on the election, the media will be an active participant in the disenfranchisement of the American Electorate.
The right to vote is accompained by the obligation to cast an informed vote. Our informed vote will be made knowing:
- The charges and supporting documentation of the Swift Boat Veterans have made against Senator John Kerry.
- Kerry's response to the charges accompanied by documentation.
- Facts contained in independent, documented sources (i.e. Congressional Record, newspaper articles, testimonies, etc)
- The information contained in Senator Kerry's medical records.<.
When faced with an important decision or choosing a course of action a reliable barometer is to ask "What is the easy thing to do?" The quest for truth never falls into the easy category. We should never avoid a truth because it is not what we want the truth to be. If we choose to avoid the truth, we choose to be ignorant.
If we refuse to seek truth because it involves questioning those who served our country, we choose to be ignorant.
Anyone expecting me to accept their version of truth without the presentation of facts, wants me to be ignorant.
This is not a new issue. Both sides knew charges and countercharges would be made. I look for those who stand tall, state their case, and not run from the hard questions. The motives of anyone on either side of this issue are suspect if all that is offered is a sense of righteous indignation. I will fall victim to the charge of dirty politics."
Whoops should read :
I will NOT fall victim to the charge of dirty politics."
Sounds like a clear case of denial to me.
Donate to the Swift boat vets to counter the tie in with the mediots and Kerry!
Why we should contribute to the Swift Boat Money raising for tv ads, based on comments from Kerri's staff":

Sounds like a cover-up to me...."The senior staff believes the media is committed to seeing us win this thing,...."
The fix is in.
I am told that John O'Neill will be on Hannity and Colmes tonight, Tuesday, August 10.
Neighbor, thank you very much for taking the time to do this. I will mass email it to everyone I can, my church groups & friends, and anyone else I can think of. Eagles Up!
So Kerry, lets get your crew together
and they can tell America how you and
they were in Cambodia on Dec 24 and 25 1968,
under Nixon's orders even though Nixon
wasn't Commander-in-Chief until Jan 20 1969
You and your crew were there.
They can verify this? Correct?
Johnson, Lyndon
1963-69
Nixon, Richard
1969-74
Odd, I was in Vietnam on Dec 24 and 25 1968
and Johnson was my Commander-in-Chief
John Kerry
Exhibit 25, Congressional Record - Senate of March 27, 1986, page 3594.
"Mr. President, I remember Christmas of 1968 sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia. I remember what it was like to be shot at by Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and have President Nixon telling the American people that I was not there; the troops were not in Cambodia.
I have that memory which is seared -- seared -- in me . . . ."
By way of further example, Kerry wrote an article for the Boston Herald on October 14, 1979:
"I remember spending Christmas Eve of 1968 five miles across the Cambodian border being shot at by our South Vietnamese allies who were drunk and celebrating Christmas. The absurdity of almost killed by our own allies in a country in which President Nixon claimed there were no American troops was very real."
See Exhibit 26.
If you can remember the Sixties, you weren't really there BUMP.
Can you give me a clue?
Thanks for the ping!

Thanks. I cancelled my AMX years ago when I had a refund and got charged a late payment penalty weeks after the refund was received by AMX.
My Visa charge card was accepted on the first try, and I don't remember if I put the spaces in it or not..
Thanks for donating and supporting what these brave Warriors are trying to warn America about.
Juan Williams on Hume's panel last night introduced this explanation...maybe John Kerry thought he was in Cambodia when he was actually not in Cambodia. Then he proceeded to say that it was irrelevant to his other Viet Nam claims.
I can get further and be more challenged in a debate with my two year old nephew.
I would appreciate it if my fellow Freepers could contribute errors and omissions in the story for submittal to the Dallas Morning News.

BTTT!!!!!!
Yeah, Mara tried that, too, but Brit nailed them both when he stated that Kerry had repeated it in 1979 and, from the floor of the Senate in 1986.
