As I said on the first thread I posted about the Speaker's book tour, "thanks to CFR, the publisher, Regnery, is the only one who can put out mailings for this type of event. The RNC has mailing lists, but cannot give them to Regnery. The RNC could sell the lists to Regnery for 'fair market value,' but then would have to sell the lists to anyone who requested them, including MoveOn.org and the other freaks."
So if the democrats want to restrain free speech to the point that a book signing can't be advertised, I thought I'd bring the message directly to the people who would want to read this book. If the dems don't like it . . . let them start their own FreeRepublic.
Speaker Hastert will be at
Barnes and NobleIf you get a chance to stop by any of these events and don't feel like talking about tax reform or the overturning of CFR, the Speaker also likes cars and high school/collegiate wrestling (I don't think he's very much into the WWF, though).

Speaker Hastert will be in Albuquerque at the Barnes & Noble in the Coronado Mall from Noon to 2:00 for a book signing. Because of CFR restrictions, the Republican party can't help with the advance notification for these events. I was hoping to spread the word in case some New Mexico FReepers wanted to see the Speaker, but were unaware that he would be in town.
Thanks.
Thanks for the ping! I'll let some friends of mine know. They live in Albuquerque. I live 150 miles away and I won't be able to make it at this late date.
I didn't get the schedule until tonight. I wish I could have posted this last night when I did the first thread, but my "source" didn't get the place or time until a few hours ago.
I really need a Blackberry . . .
You're welcome. I was going to try to go into Albuquerque when I found out President Bush was going to be there tomorrow, but I'm in the process of selling a building and I've got some things that I've got to take care of, so I can't leave. I hope some of my friends will go, though. It would have been great to meet him. Thanks for letting us know. :-)
I'll let some lucky people know but being from WAY south NM I won't be able to make it.
I know what you mean about being "way South." All the good stuff here comes to Chicago, and it's an all-day event just finding parking in the city. I swear they can spot a car that's from outside "Chicagoland," and put up the Lot Full signs.
Must be the corn dust.
Speaker Hastert will be in town from Noon to 2:00 at the Borders on East Camelback Road for a book signing. Back in the olden days (before CFR) the Republican party could have handled the announcement by sending notices to everyone on their mailing list in that area.
In the Brave New World of post-CFR, the RNC is not allowed to do this. Only the publisher, Regnery, can promote the Speaker's appearances. The RNC could sell Regnery their mailing lists (not give, sell -- CFR again), but as soon as they open that door, MoveOn.org can demand the list for the same price (did you guess CFR -- BINGO!).
Since the Speaker fought this blasted law for years, then sued to try to overturn it after the RINOs helped get it passed, I thought it only fair that I circumvent the whole CFR-FEC-DNC cabal and go directly to people who might be interested in meeting Speaker Hastert and/or reading his book.
Any help you can give me in spreading the word about his visit will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Normally, announcements like this would have been handled by the RNC, not a friend of the wife of the guy who works for the Speaker. But with CFR, the Republican Party and Speaker Hastert are not allowed to work together. The RNC is allowed to sell (not give) the mailing lists to the book's publisher, Regnery, but then the RNC is required to sell the list for the same price to whoever demands it.
So in the interest of free speech, I'm passing the word along to people who might like to go to these events. I haven't been regulated yet (no one's noticed me), but I better move fast before the FEC rules that I have to give equal time to MoveOn.org.
Any help you can give me in spreading the word about the Speaker's book signing will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Not a bother at all! Anything I can do to help in Southern California! I will be sure to pass the word to all my friends & will plan to attend the Nixon Library signing! Thanks for the heads up!
Thank you!

You would think after all this time on FR, I'd know how to post a picture without having to search for the HTML Bootcamp thread.
Do you know as of this writing how to post a pic? If not, I'll post the Cliff (Clif?) Notes on it for you.
I had the entire HTML Bootcamp thread saved, then the computer decided to clean itself out and threw away most of my cheat sheets.
Good friend of mine attended Hastert's book signing in Houston the other night. Said he had "a great conversation" with Mr. Speaker (who is quite friendly), shook his hand, the whole shebang. Am VERY sorry I missed the event. Just thought I'd pass this along.
The place was huge, but Speaker Hastert went from table to table, shaking hands and greeting everyone. My friend's husband says this drives the security detail to distraction.
