1993 Flashback: Kerry opposed Mass. tax cuts after voting for huge Clinton tax hike
The Boston Globe Archives [NO LINK] | August 15, 1993 | Scot Lehigh, Globe Staff

Gov. Weld's attempt to cut state taxes in response to President Clinton's national tax hikes will hurt the state's chances for getting more federal funding for projects like the Boston Harbor cleanup and the Central Artery- Third Harbor Tunnel, say key members of the Massachusetts congressional delegation. ''It is going to be very difficult for us to argue that we need more money for environmental cleanup, for the third harbor tunnel and Artery, for Boston Harbor, or for Amtrak when the state is apparently doing so well it can afford to give money back to everybody,'' Sen. John Kerry warned.

Federal policymakers, Kerry predicted, will ask: "How can you say you need more money from us when you're cutting taxes?"

Last Wednesday, Weld proposed cutting state taxes by $207 million to help offset the effects of the federal taxes increased as part of Clinton's deficit reduction plan.

-----------------------

[On August 7] both Massachusetts Democrats, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and Sen. John F. Kerry, voted for President Clinton's deficit-reduction package which included $241 billion in new taxes.

This is how Kerry will do it...

First he'll raise the taxes on the rich... And he'll watch the tax revenues start shrinking as the rich people start hiding their money.

To make up for the decreasing revenues, he'll raise taxes on the middle class and corporations.

By the end of 4 years, he'll have started a new recession.

Then, on his way out... He'll blame Bush.

Since you have access to archives, could you try to research something, if you can.

Newt Gingrich mentioned something on FoxNews, about Kerry, which should be brought out and it's very damaging.

Newt said, that when Kerry was LT Gov for Dukakis, the two of them signed a pledge to NOT defend Boston against a nuclear attack. Kerry was all for nuclear freeze, i.e. our unilateral disarmament, which is bad enough, but if this is really true, that he actually pledged to NOT defend Boston, that, in today's environment pretty much should sink his candidacy.

I suppose I could have misheard, but I don't think so.

I tried to search for it, but couldn't find anything.

But it's worth a more thorough search.

You forgot the key factor in issue.

Lowering taxes on the rich, makes the rich pay more, and at the same time because of this, the rich create more revenue to the government and at the same time even more productivity because of the tax reduction.

That point was implied, but not important to pointing out that raising taxes on the rich decreases overall revenues.

How true. The secret economic plan he won't disclose until elected is to raise taxes higher than a kite. Don't worry, though, he's going to wage a more sensitive war on terro, which means when we're attacked with nuclear weapons, he isn't going to fight back. We won't be around to pay those huge tax increases.

I looked, but the only thing I saw was generic opposition to the nuclear race (arms buildup). They also supported the "Jobs for Peace" group, which described itself as a "campaign to redirect funds from the military budget to domestic needs". They also made numerous statements criticizing Reagan's military policies.

I will keep looking.

Kerry as Socialist-Lite: To spread the wealth the liberal is willing; he'll take YOUR dollar and keep his shilling. The "secret" is simple: STEAL THE WEALTH, SPREAD THE POVERTY. IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE AN IDIOT! Such is their highly touted "level playing field." Above all else, socialists must maintain an alienated and unappeasably angry "poor" class. From Johnson's "Great Society" until today, increasing BILLIONS have been spent to completely eradicate "poverty," but there always seems to remain a permanent "underclass." Is there something else going on here? There is no other way these ultralibs and "socialist-lites" can obtain and maintain power, since there is nothing constructive, creative, or humanly interesting in socialist ideology. They sure do love their foot-stomping, table-pounding "political action" meetings; I have observed a few of them, and all I can say is - visions of Nikita Kruschev and Adolph Hitler. Socialism IS fascism!

I wish I had taped Newt's statement, so I could listen to it again. He said it matter of factly.

If you haven't seen it already, here is a NewsMax article on the comment.

THANKS VERY MUCH for posting the link. I did not see the article.

I am glad they picked up on Newt's comment and did the research.

Kerry: I Wouldn't Respond to Nuclear Attack
http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1190869/posts

But as Michael Dukakis' Lieutenant Governor, Kerry authored an executive order that said the state of Massachussetts would refuse to take part in any civil defense efforts in response to a nuclear attack on America.

Lt. Gov. Kerry's executive order on behalf of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts read in part:

"Whereas the existing and potential strength of nuclear weapons is such that nuclear war can neither be won nor survived, it can only be prevented; and Whereas the only effective defense against the horrors of nuclear weapons lies in their elimination and in the prevention of nuclear war or attacks, [the Commonwealth of Massachusetts] shall seek to ensure the safety of its citizens by pursuit of policies reflecting a serious commitment to prevention of nuclear war."

"Such policies," the Kerry directive continued, "shall include education of citizens concerning the real nature of nuclear war and efforts to influence national policy towards negotiation of an end to the nuclear-arms race."

The Kerry order stated emphatically, however: "No funds shall be expended by the Commonwealth for crisis relocation planning for nuclear war."

We really need a Balanced Budget Amendment so we can stop this nonsense.

This is the stuff we need to be talking about, what Kerry did after Vietnam. He can't run from this stuff for much longer...
