Reporter confirms Kerry said he ran guns into Cambodia

The May 8, 2000 article from U.S. News & World report reproduced below begins by stating that John Kerry conducted clandestine forays into Cambodia during the Vietnam War to deliver weapons to anticommunist forces. Because that statement isn't a direct quote of Kerry, I contacted the reporter, Kevin Whitelaw, this afternoon. Whitelaw still works at U.S. News & World report where he covers foreign affairs and intelligence matters.

Hugh: "Did John Kerry tell you that he ran guns into Cambodia?"

Kevin Whitelaw: "That's exactly what he told me."

Mr. Whitelaw declined my invitation to appear on my radio program, explaining that he doesn't report on or comment on the presidential campaign.

Can we now agree that John Kerry has engaged in wild claims about his service? Since he told that tale to Mr. Whitelaw, who else has he told it to?

I wonder who he delivered the guns to? I mean, all the Vietnamese and Cambodians were drunk from celebrating Christmas, were they not?

I guess that the NVA were sober enough to sign for them.

The evidence mounts daily that John Kerry is either the biggest liar to ever run for President, or the most delusional person to seek that office.

Since that group includes Bill Clinton and Al Gore, that's saying something!

My vote is for delusional. I expect any politician to lie - but his are akin to kindergarten whoppers and the “dog ate my homework” excuses when caught. They are definitely up there with psychotic delusions.

Hewitt is ALL OVER this story. Keep up the great work, Hugh!

I guess this is one instance where we could actually say this is HUGH! (And he is SERIES about this!)

It seems as if the dems are looking to pull the pin on this loser.

That’s wishful thinking. He still has a lot of support from the “Anybody But Bush” crowd mob. It really is too late to back off him now. They are stuck with the thing they picked.

I'm voting for delusional. Clinton was a liar, Gore was a bs artist and a confused man, Kerry seems to be a true fantasist. That's very scary.

LOL! Very good, but I think you must add a little from Bob Kerrey's resume and we have John F***ing Kerry.

Apparently he's been running on Bob Kerrey's war hero status all these years. Too bad the MSMedia never bothered to check the spelling of the two names!

Walter Mitty
Walter Mitty is an older man, I’d guess that he’s in his late 60’s or early 70’s, who leads two different lives. In his real life he’s a mild, quiet man who is easily bossed around by his pushy wife, but in his fantasized life he is always a calm, cool, and confident man who has the respect of many people.
In one of his daydreams he is the commander of a Navel hydroplane that has just sailed into a hurricane. "The Old Man’ll get us through" were the words of his crew. This daydream gives a good example of what Walter Mitty wishes he could be; a leader of some sort, who has many people who look up to him and admire him.

The profile fits. Scary, huh?

Busy beaver in the 4 1/2 months he was "in country"- considering one month of that was in training at Cam Rahn Bay.

"Reporter confirms Kerry said he ran guns into Cambodia."

I believe the reporter has a hearing problem.....Kerry didn't run guns into Cambodia.....he mailed "GUM" to Cambodia. Geez, this reporter needs to get his hearing checked out. ;-}

Scene: John Kerry, in class the first day of first grade. The teacher asks him, in turn, what he did on his summer vacation.

Little Johnny Forbes Kerry: "First, my parents took me to the moon, where we visited all the Moon People; and they elected me Emperor!...Then we came home and built a submarine, and discovered ATLANTIS!...And then we visited Santa Claus at the NORTH POLE and he let me ride in his sleigh..."
