So, Hackworth is supporting Kerry against the affidavits of dozens of his fellow Navy vets who served with him at the time, and instead he thinks the now silent handful standing around him on the campaign trail and who were somehow bribed into his corner early on are the ones telling the real truth about this poseur?

I wonder what happened to Hackworth's legendary disdain for "Perfumed Princes"? Kerry is the very epitome of such a dastardly creature!

Anyone associated with Chuck Colson from that era (I understand he's turned his life around) shouldn't be trusted at all.

Horse Hockey. If memory serves, O'Neill was already debating Kerry when the White House took notice and simply encouraged him to continue. Perhaps even financially supported him. But O'Neill was already on his crusade.

His service to his country shouldn't be diminished by the same despicable, politically motivated tactics visited upon Sens. John McCain in South Carolina and Max Cleland in Georgia, also Viet vets. This kind of gutter-bashing doesn't belong in American politics, and vets shouldn't allow themselves to be used as ammo for cheap shots at one of their own.

But it's okay for Kerry and his surrogates to smear Bush with lies for months on end about Bush's service in the Guard. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that that whole ruse was the opening move in the Democrats' scheme to promote Kerry's own, "I was in Vietnam, you know," campaign centerpiece. So now the Republicans are battling back and the rats don't like it. Har, har.

I remember when this guy Hackworth had credibility around here - - it was only a few years ago. But over the past two years he has exposed himself as a despicable, lying scumbag. A Democrat. Oh well....

They questioned his sanity and his self control after the years of confinement by the Commies.

McCain was not pleased, but could not address what is now his history.

Still can't.

I know why Hack is saying this, if he attacked Kerry do you think he would be allowed on liberal cable TV anymore?

Dear Mr. Hackworth, I served in the National Guard from 1960 to 1968, I did not then and do not now consider myself a draft dodger. I served my country . I did not care to wait until years after I graduated High School and got a job to see my name come up on the draft list, so I joined the National Guard My father did not have any clout as you suggest it was pretty simple really I signed on before I graduated high school. Mr Hackworth you served your country and I applaud you , you can take your opinion of Guardsmen and stick them where the sun dont shine. The National Guard has served in every war since the revolution.
Now we must assume you have seen John Kerrys records since you so zealously attack other Navy personnel who served with Kerry and witnessed his service, p[erhaps you can tell us who placed him in for his medals and Purple Hearts , because we dont know and he wont sign the 180. By the way if you dont have these records or havent had access then you are no wiser than we are , and you should STFU.

Anyone who subscribes to the notion that all military awards for valor or wounds which have been dispensed are justified is in my view naive.

I would not willfully minimize any hero who has received an award, but I must say that there certainly has been in some cases a certain amount of embellishment of circumstances and exploits which resulted in the dispensing of medals for Valor and other such matters.

It appears that Kerry in particular is a gross example of a manipulation of the system. There are of course likely others who received undeserved medals, but not many of them have come to the place in life where they are invoking those ersatz accomplishments in order to gain the highest office in the land.

Hack has been attacking Bush policy since day one.

I don't even know why some are still surprised to find he is a Kerry supporter.

He is of the Country Joe and the Fish brigade. Always will be.

Well I guess anyone who served (1964-1973) but never went to Vietnam you were somehow a coward or dodger in the eyes of the good Col. Hackworth.

I'm getting sick and tired of this crap. I've spent more time on a salt water shi**er backing down at 400 feet than either ...... Well never mind I digress.

Hackworth is a goof-ball and has been for sometime.

This is a bunch of Democrap that you posted.

O'Neil has addressed this issue and had no connections with the Nixon White House. He is not a republican.

I had a of respect for Hack, but now since he is calling fellow soldiers lier's. I think he sucks! He should of remained silent on the issue saying something like, "I wasn't there so i cant cast judgment" but no he come out swinging apparently before knowing the facts! I wrote him a little letter that i thought i would share with you
Hey Hack, I think you need to read the book and do a little research before you open your mouth and insert your ass! Steve Gardner WAS on Kerry's boat for 2 1/2 months! NONE of the men have backed Kerry's lie of Cambodia (even his paid servants), In his own Journal he admits that he wasn't under fire when he got his first purple heart! I admit Kerry's lies should have come out long ago in his political life but, the jig is up and the rat is out of the cage! the Democrats need to field a new candidate!

"Sure, Bush dodged the draft..."

So as far as I can tell, by Hackworth's definition, anyone who enlisted in the military "dodged the draft".

"And Kerry dodged the draft, too....."

I've read this too (can't remember where)

I would love to verify it (dates, locations, sources) for a fact sheet I'm building if you can recall where you found it.

Thanx

It is not that Bush joined the Air National Guard but that his enemies say he was bumped ahead in line to get the open position through his father's influence.

Hack is nothing more than a dope dealing pimp who's lucky he didn't end his military career with a tour in Leavenworth.

Hack no longer matters. This article once again exposes his liberal bias and can hardly be called investigative.I remember how he used to go after fraudulent medal claims to the ends of the earth! This is the best he can do here? BS I'm no brain surgeon, but even I know that smoke means fire and boy is there a lot of smoke coming off kerry. I just don't understand what made this guy into a political dunce. Well Hack, if your reading this, enjoy the fog. You should've quit before you destroyed the respect a lot of folks once had for you. And hack, you mean to tell me that you went through all the hell you did defending this country JUST to turn into a liberal? Wow!
