I agree that it's natural for people who oppose Kerry to find mutual alliances. It's natural for Republicans to fund 527s which have a message they like. The Kerry campaign is being ridiculous about Republican contributions, that's just silly.

But coordination is, as I understand it, against the law.

I guess I'll have to bone up on campaign finance law myself, I really did not want to have to do that.

Ooh, that might prove a 'tie' to the secretive Guillermo, a known 'Republican operative'who posts on a forum that gets dumptruck loads of untraceable cash from Halliburton and Dick Cheney and the RNC. LOL!! Yet another connection between the Swifties and the White House!!

Lib lurkers- get this straight: Everything isn't a big, dark, secretive, well-oiled conspiracy with enormous resources and shadowy tentacles that reach all over the globe straight out of the 'X Files'.

Where the f**k is Alachua County FL, and why the f**k does anyone care what a bunch of retirees do when not playing shuffleboard.

I apologize for the language, and to Aluchua County residents, but I'm sure no outside your area of Florida much cares what your county Republican reelction committee is up to. Of course, in a race to the bottom(of the nielson ratings), CNN, MSNBC, NBC, et al. willing be tripping over themselves to air this "story". Also, I belive the lover of Golan Cipel attended a Democrat fundraiser sometime in the last 10 years, where he was recruited by the CIA. About as relevant to reality.

Smoking gun for what?

Republicans aren't allowed now to support a group if they choose?

I don't think they've outlawed that.....yet.

That is a huge difference from the charge the Bush/Cheney campaign directing the Swift Vet Group commercials and having the group act as a "front".

I would think given all the intersections between MoveOn.org, Mikey Mooreorless and celebrities et. al. we can certainly find a piece of paper with the words MoveOn.org, Kerry and Moore all on it..

Hasn't Kerry's campaign been using material lifted from Fahrenheit 9/11?

Yes, indeed they have.

Kerry tries to counter impact of war criticism

excerpt:

Cutter sought to turn the argument over presidential readiness back on the White House. "Mr. McClellan needs to understand that John Kerry is not the type of leader who will sit and read `My Pet Goat' to a group of second graders while America is under attack," she said.

That was a reference to Sept. 11, 2001, when Bush remained in an elementary school classroom for several minutes after being informed by an aide that the World Trade Center had been hit.

Coordination between 527s and the campaigns is probably against the rules, would be my guess...

That's what I've heard as well, though it certainly hasn't stopped the Kerry campaign from hiring bigwigs from MoveOn.org and lifting material from Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11".

Once again the Democrats insist that everyone give them a pass while they accuse others of the same thing they're doing.

I thought Kos was banned here? Either way the wee todd id dimbulb is an idiot. Collusion between BC04 and SBVT would have to be on an advisory level and direct financial links not a flyer saying a couple of groups will have a rally together.

Just so everyone can see what has been happening for the last 19 years of John Kerry's life in the US Senate. No wonder he doesn't want to discuss his record in the Senate. Remember, this is only one of his committees he has neglected.

Bill

JOHN KERRY WISHES HE HAD BOB KERREY’S RECORD ON INTELLIGENCE
Desperate To Hide Their Candidate’s Poor Record On Intelligence, Kerry Campaign Goes So Far As To Claim He – Not Bob Kerrey (D-NE) – Was Vice Chairman Of Senate Intelligence Committee
______________________________________________________________________

KERRY CAMPAIGN “FACT CHECK” FICTION: “John Kerry Is An Experienced Leader In The Intelligence Field – John Kerry Served On The Senate Select Committee On Intelligence For 8 Years And Is The Former Vice Chairman Of The Committee.” (John Kerry For President, “Bush-Cheney Ad Fact Check – ‘Intell,’” Press Release, 8/13/04)

KERRY CAMPAIGN “FACT CHECK” REALITY: Kerry Was Never Vice Chairman Of Intelligence Committee – But Bob Kerrey (D-NE) Was. (Michael Barone and Grant Ujifusa, The Almanac Of American Politics 2000, 1999, p. 1796; Michael Barone and Grant Ujifusa, The Almanac Of American Politics 1998, 1997, p. 1579; Michael Barone and Grant Ujifusa, The Almanac Of American Politics 1996, 1995, p. 1494; Michael Barone and Grant Ujifusa, The Almanac Of American Politics 1994, 1993, p. 1427)

WHY?

WHY WOULD JOHN KERRY WANT BOB
KERREY’S INTELLIGENCE RECORD?

KERRY

VS.

KERREY

As you can see below, John Kerry's attendance in the Committee was pretty bad compared to Bob Kerrey's attendance record. Notice that they are spelled differently. Bob Kerry won the Medal of Honor in Vietnam.

From 1993-2001, Attended Just 24% Of Public Committee Hearings. (Select Committee On Intelligence, U.S. Senate, Hearings, 1993-2001) John

In 1994, Voted Against Kerry’s Proposed $6 Billion Across The Board Cut To Intelligence Budget. (H.R. 3759, CQ Vote #39: Rejected 20-75: R 3-37; D 17-38, 2/10/94, Kerrey Voted Nay) Bob

In 1995 And 1996, Attended Just One Of Six Days Of Hearings On Reforming Intelligence Community. (“Intelligence Community Roles And Missions: Redefining The National Interests,” Select Committee On Intelligence, U.S. Senate, Hearing, 9/20/95; “Law Enforcement And Intelligence,” Select Committee On Intelligence, U.S. Senate, Hearing, 10/25/95; “Roles And Capabilities Of The U.S. Intelligence Community,” Select Committee On Intelligence, U.S. Senate, Hearing, 3/6/96; “Renewal And Reform: Intelligence In A Changing World,” Select Committee On Intelligence, U.S. Senate, Hearings, 3/19/96, 3/27/96, and 4/24/96) JOHN

Based on what the flyer says, this is LEGAL. However, I agree with the posters who said this creates a bad "appearance" which the other side will use to create a bad spin. The same thing could have been done, with each organization putting out its own flyer to its own audience, asking all participants to show up at the same time and place.

Put simply, this is legal, but stupid. The folks involved were not THINKING about consequences.
