(Vanity) Help Make a "Web of Connections" for Democrats

Posted on 08/20/2004 7:10:29 PM PDT by twgiles

You've all seen the NY Times's "Web of Connections" graphic that insinuates the Swift Boat ads are coordinated and paid for by the Bush Campaign.

Well, it annoyed me because I know full well that there are exactly the same webs between John Kerry's campaign and MoveOn.org and other liberal groups. I started to create my own web, but I figured that the FR community could do the job together much better and much faster.

So anyhow, here's what I came up with in like 30 minutes. Go to it, gang!

TOPICS: Politics/Elections; Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: kerry; moveon; peterschurman; zachexley
Navigation: use the links below to view more comments.

Zach Exley: hired by Kerry campaign away from Moveon.org, where he was director of special projects one of which was gwbush.com, in which he accused george bush of doing cocaine, selling bumper stickers like "GW Bush-Not A Crackhead Anymore!" and "Born with a Silver Spoon Up His Nose!"

gwbush.com

Eli Pariser: MoveOn executive director, Worked on anti-war and environmental speeches with Al Gore. Responsible for the "Create an Ad" campaign that promoted a Bush/Hitler ad for a month before officially denouncing it.

Peter Schurman (formerly Schurmann): Executive Director, MoveOn.org, formerly worked for Democrat political campaigns including (D) Congressman Gary Ackerman's.

Hannah Pingree: MoveOn National Director, Democrat, Maine House of Reps, deputy finance director of her mother (Chellie Pingree)'s Senate campaign, which was accused of soft money solicitation violations.

Chellie Pingree: Candidate for US Senate from Maine, President, CommonCause, star of the movie "Outfoxed", called Tom Daschle a "good friend". Her Senate campaign was accused by the FEC of violating soft money solicitation laws.

Common Cause: Liberal-run organization that demanded ethics investigation of Tom Delay and coordinated hosting of house parties for "Outfoxed". Common Cause and MoveOn.org host a petition to demand the FEC punish Fox for false advertising ("Fair and Balanced"). They publish an annual report card that gives 95% of Republicans Fs and 90% of Democrats As.

Adam Ruben: MoveOn liason to Michael Moore, coordinated voter registration drives at F-911 showings and an interview with Moore. "Michael Moore is a hero to many, for saying things no one else will say. MoveOn members are thrilled to hear him speak about the film, and to take action to ensure that movie audiences turn their outrage into action."

MoveOn.org: Founded to fight the Clinton impeachment. Funded by small contributions and a matching donation of $5 million by George Soros. Runs ad campaigns and coordinates political speeches by Democrat lawmakers and activists. Funds Democrats for political office around the country. Sponsor of the Bruce Springsteen's Vote For Change tour.

Carrie Olson: Berkley Democrat Rep., COO MoveOn

Joan Blades: Co-founder, MoveOn.org

Wes Boyd: Co-founder, MoveOn. Married to Joan Blades.

Harold Ickes: Head of Americans Coming Together, former Clinton Chief of Staff.

Some great research on connections between DNC and MoveOn.org type organizations.

Thank you for your work. I'll look into it a little tomorrow; I have a husband who is feeling rather ignored with all my freeping today :-)

BTW, for what it's worth - the book Madame Hillary mentions that Sandy Berger's daughter works for one of Hillary's think tanks that influences the public, Congress and the media. The daughter is in charge of media affairs.

Here is a good place to start... I doubt it would be difficult to find photographs and histories for any of them... :)

Note that only one in the list of top 25 (#10b Carl Lindner) has donated to Republicans.

Simply the fact that Kerry's campaign employs a guy (Exley) who created a website and PROFITED off these scurrilious Bush-cocaine allegations is something the media should be ALL OVER.

Each and every one of you owes it to yourself to revisit gwbush.com on the Internet Archive (archive.org) to see what kind of hatemonger the Kerry campaign has in its employ. If the Bush campaign had a similar scum in their organization, the media would have forced him out and destroyed his career by now. NO QUESTION.

Proof that they're ashamed, the website has been remade into a sweet little patriotic cocktail napkin. gwbush.com Thank goodness for the archive--you can even see it took the scum two weeks after 9-11 to take his sleaze down for a few months, but it was right back up hawking bumper stickers with the New Year.

I advise all of you to start unraveling Kerry's web by mailing Hannity, O'Reilly, Matthews et al about Exley's website and media hypocrisy. This isn't a nebulous web of associations, this is a guy working inside the Kerry campaign!

Howlin - new thread says that MoveOn.org accidentally left open their subscriber list.

Can someone help with retrieving data out of it?

In August 2001, Edwards formed a leadership PAC, New American Optimists, New American Optimists spent more than $380,000 in key primary states like New Hampshire, Iowa, and South Carolina.
