Sitting this one out (open letter to RNC)

TO: Republican National Committee Cc: Butler Co. Republican party Ohio Republican Party George W. Bush

Subject: Sitting this one out

As a conservative, I have become increasingly disappointed at the leftward drift of the Republican Party under the leadership of George W. Bush. His monetary and immigration policies are prime examples.

I have come to the conclusion that he is, quite simply, unacceptable. Furthermore, the overall position of the Republican Party is too far to the left to suit me.

The argument that "the other guy is worse" is invalid. There is now such an indiscernible difference between the Republican and Democrat parties that it would make little difference who won the election.

You have not put up a good candidate since Ronald Reagan. I have held my nose and voted in the last three elections, but I can't stomach it any more.

Therefore, this year, I will vote for no Republican candidates at the national, state or local level. If I find an acceptable conservative 3rd party, I will vote for them.

If we lose the election, so be it. My prayer is that a sound drubbing will slap some sense back into the Republican Party.

- Wayne Keller Cincinnati, Ohio

I will be passing this list out to lots of people.

Thanks for a great job compiling this list!

Yeah, you'll show 'em! Think you'll crack 2% this year?

Doesn't matter. I vote my political principles. How about you? No? You'll vote for any Big Government politician who's not quite as bad as the other guy?

I'm sure that's something to be proud of.

Or are we just supposed to bob our heads in unison at everthing Bush does?

To an increasing number of Kool-Aid drinking, mind numbed, yeller-dawg Pubbies on this forum, the answer is yes. Don't think for yourself, don't question anyone with an "R" after their name, check your principles at the door, put on your rose-colored glasses, and pull the straight Pubbie ticket switch on election day. If you dare step out of line, speak the truth, disagree in any way with anything or idea forwarded by any Pubbie (or conversely, recognize the merit of any idea that may come from the other side of the aisle!), and you'll be flamed mercilessly, piled on, drawn and quartered, and labeled a DU Commie disruptor, even though you're the farthest thing from it.

Welcome to today's FR.

During the last presidential campaign cycle, I took a similar position, though the issues were somewhat different.

By the time election day came, I had realized that if Gore became president, it would be so much of a disaster that the nation could not withstand it.

This time it's the same, but worse. This time it is clear that there are many bad guys who want us all to be either Muslim or dead. Kerry doesn't have the will to fight against them.

2008 will not matter if Kerry is elected. Save your powder for the real enemy.

To believe in a future for America, you have to believe that (in the long run) the People can choose wisely.

I believe there is some ancient wisdom that teaches choosing not to choose is a very rational response to being presented with only bad choices.

Immature posting...if it's not exactly what you want you pout.

No matter who's in the WH the other side has been incrementally moving this nation to the left for many years. The least we can do is vote to give this president another four years plus control of the congress to move this country back in the right direction again.

Here in Idaho, Sen. Craig sucks, and the others are only slightly better.

NY is even worse, the congressional representatives of both parties in this state consistently vote to reward illegal aliens, even after 9/11. We're being invaded, none of them get it and probably never will.

So the question is, when will we, those of us who are livid about the invasion of our country which is the elephant in the living room, do something about it, and stop re-electing the same RINOs and 'Rats?

The race to watch is in Arizona, if Randy Graf can beat RINO Kolbe it might be the start of something. And their initiative Prop 200 is going to win big despite opposition from the GOP establishment.

Btw I completely agree with you and have been saying the same thing, if this invasion isn't stopped now in 20 years we will be a third world country. It's beyond Kerry And Bush at this point, our grass roots efforts have to be at the congressional and state levels if we're ever going to see effective measures taken to halt the trends.

The right side is too far away.
But the left isn't where I want to be either.
I wish the right was more...

You miss the point. No party will ever match my prinicples. EVER. Not completely. At least until I form the one-member itsamelman party.

I'm sure the Nader voters are also proud. Keep voting libertarin and have zero influence on elections. Or better yet, help put someone whose principle are completely opposite of yours in office. That's a great way to affect change and use your influence. I'm sure THAT'S something to be proud of.

BTW, I AM a former Libertarian party member and still hold many (l)ibertarian views. However, NO vote I ever cast for a Libertarian candidate EVER moved my agenda forward one iota.

There's nothing in the post that could be considered to be "immature".

To believe in a future for America, you have to believe that (in the long run) the People can choose wisely.

Many of us don't have a bit of faith in the American Sheeple. Stupid, lazy, easily manipulated by slick politicians, or just plain ol' apathetic, I don't trust most of my fellow Americans to make a wise decision about anything more important than what toppings to put on a pizza.

Politicians from Bush to your dogcatcher are professionals at figuring out what the People want (as was Ronald Reagan).

That's absolutely correct...give us Bread and Circuses and we'll keep on sending 'em back to DC. We are our own worst enemies.

The reason there is not a strong Constitutionalist party is because the People don't want (won't support) it.

Again, absolutely spot on. We're cutting our own throats in the interest of next quarter's stock report, a better golf score, and getting home in time to catch tonight's American Idol. We ignore the important things at our own peril. The worst thing we can ignore is our soverignty and what those of us we elect to protect our rights are doing to subvert them.

Hold your nose and vote for Bush, because after Kerry gets elected (actually, it's going to be Hillary) you won't be doing much voting.

My nose is raw from holding it ever since 1992. I'd rather vote my conscience and buy another couple hundred rounds of ammo. Gonna need it in the future.

LOL! Naw...what's hard to believe is that his hard core (that's the 12 people left who still haven't realized he's a pathetic joke), are still pouting over his loss and still posting his anti-Bush BS.
