HAMPTONS DIARY (heckler's shut Terayza up at Kerry's fund-raiser)
NY POST ^ | August 23, 2004 | Bridget Harrison, Doug Kuntz, Thomas Hinton and Dan Kadison

Posted on 08/23/2004 2:03:51 AM PDT by Liz

Hundreds of well- heeled guests found themselves traipsing through mud to get to John Kerry's $1,000-a-head fund-raiser at the home of venture capitalist Alan Patricof Saturday night, after the event was turned into a political Woodstock by bucketing rain.

Former model Christie Brinkley was overheard joking that the mud was a result of Republican campaign tactics.

Meanwhile, first to collar the delayed presidential hopeful when he finally showed up was hip-hop mogul turned politico Russell Simmons, who pulled Kerry aside for a stern tete-à-tete on how better to relate to the voters. Outside, Jimmy Buffett performed for the waiting crowd, which was awash in tequila.

But the buzz was almost amid by Teresa Heinz Kerry's long-winded introduction, which finaly ended soon after one heckler told her to sit down.

Later, the Kerrys headed to the East Hampton home of "Sex and the City" creator Darren Star, who co-hosted a $25,000-per-person dinner with furniture designer Mitchell Gold. It was attended by 250 guests including Sen. Chuck Schumer, actor Peter Boyle, Infinity Radio chief John Sykes and marketing exec Robert Zimmerman.

Kerry thanked Star, telling the crowd that in this economy, "Sex and the City's" fictional character of Carrie Bradshaw wouldn't even be able to afford a $15 pair of shoes.

The Hamptons may be Democrat country but John Kerry didn't make himself popular with all the locals this weekend. Well-to-do residents out for early morning bike rides and walks on Lily Pond Lane yesterday were incensed by the heavy-handed appearance of Secret Service, State Police, Suffolk Country police and East Hampton Village police, who all descended on the quiet street to clear the way for Kerry, who was heading for breakfast with Steven Spielberg on Georgica Pond.

Adolph Hitler was another politician that was very "chic" among the financial and media stars of his time -- the parallels between Adolph Hitler and John Kerry are much more numerous than those which try to portray GWB as Hitler:

o Kerry and Hitler were both "War Heros" with medals.
o Kerry and Hitler were heros in wars that their nation "lost".
o Kerry and Hitler were both "Wounded" in that war.
o Kerry and Hitler are both opportunists.
o Kerry and Hitler were dedicated to overthrow the existing order.
o Kerry and Hitler were both leaders of radical organizations willing to use violence to win.
o Kerry and Hitler used national dissatisfaction with the war they fought in to gain political prominence.
o Kerry and Hitler were adopted by the super-rich as a vehicule to take political control.
o Kerry and Hitler were both socialists.

..."Outside, Jimmy Buffett performed for the waiting crowd, which was awash in tequila. "

I don't like his music and I don't like his politics. No lose here. Jim is just ticking of Republican ParottHeads.

Ah, yes hob-knobbing with the rich while voicing his concerns for the downtrodden. How quaint.

Wake up Kerry voters. He is just "feeling your pain".

They'll tell us how good we have it again just as soon as one of theirs is elected. Remember the great Clinton economy?

Two construction companies near my house have Help Wanted signs out on the street. The DC area's economy is exploding with work for contractors, needed for government assignments. The only people being left out are the unqualified, the lazy and those who don't know English.

Right! How can mainstream, working Americans relate to this pompous grouping of wealthy, elitist leftists? I hope they see they asininity of these limolibs and toss Kerry/Edwards into the political dustbin (and I hope British dustbins are as smelly as American garbage cans).

Former model Christie Brinkley was overheard joking that the mud was a result of Republican campaign tactics. Don't laugh. She may have a bright career ahead of her, speaking to tens of dozens daily on Air America.

i remember back in the late 80's i worked with someone who sat next to Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley at a restaurant in New York, and this person said during the entire dinner, Joel was putting Brinkley down for being too dumb to undertand anything he talked about... she does seem dumb... especially after her third marriage--and jumping into her fourth... (three kids from three different dads)... i'm glad she's a liberal...

I prefer the mesquite cutting cowboy from Crawford

Um, that is cedar, nor mesquite, but I agree with the sentiment.

More about Peter Boyle...he was one of the founding members of FTA (with Fonda andDonald Sutherland)at the same time Chicken John Kerry Aki was running with this crew. In spite of his working class, regular guy celluloid image he's nothing but an old school marxist.

After the festivities, Mr. Kerry and his entourage drove to Gabreski Airport in Westhampton for the flight to Boston. One East End farmer, anticipating Mr. Kerry's route, propped a sign on an old pickup truck bidding farewell. It read, "Kerry Go Home."

So while the rich Democrats are attending the fundraiser worrying about the "little people", the real "little people" want nothing more tha for Kerry to go home! I love it.

I got a couple pair of Keds last year at JC Penney in Austin for about $13 each. Big storewide anniversary sale, coupon, etc.
Not that I would imagine Kerry knowing about sales or coupons...(smirk).
