Your words: "The SS agent is also a Vietnam Vet and has his own letter to give to Cleland explaing why he supports Bush. Cleland declined to take it and said he'd just send the letter throught the mail."

Where in the article you linked does it say that?????????? SS agents are not allowed t voice opinions regarding such matters and if true a gross violation bythe SS and the bush campaign.

Truly desperate and pathetic. Reminds me of that ridiculously comical 4-way phone call four years ago between Daschle, Gephardt, Sore and Loserman.

Nice Title! I actually could see a group of mean white men grab his wheelchair and turn him around, rolling him down a hill...like that commercial the RATs made last election cycle...

This excerpt from the story Foxnews has on thier website

"As veterans of the armed services, we ask that you recognize this blatant attempt at character assassination and publicly condemn it," the letter to Bush says

Isn't the whole point of the SBVT's to prove that JFnK has no character?

The RNC should have gotten that guy on the Christian Network who had his whole face blown off to give the rebuttal letter to Cleland. Now wouldn't that have been a spectacle?

I don't know what Dave Roever's politics may be, but I remember seeing him on a TV program many years ago - it certainly had an impact. Link to his website.

"The Kerry campaign says this wasn't a political stunt for theater purpose... "

Of course it was a stunt, and Bush blew it by not letting Cleland in. Now the evening news will be full of pics of Bush "slamming the door" on a vet in a wheelchair.

They are indeed that low to use Max as a prop like that. Max is also that low to allow himself to be used like that.

He's been missing the TV cameras since he retired due to sickness. The voters got sick and tired of him.

Cleland has no life. This kind of attention puts him into ecstasy.

"If I was Bush I would have been standing out there waiting for them to deliver it and then smile and invite them in for coffee. Why you say? Just to tick the Kerry campaign off."

Ditto. Bush mishandled this; now we'll be seeing pics and stories of the mean Bush turning away a guy in a wheelchair. No one in the media will comment on the crass manipulation by Kerry of Cleland's handicap.

Click here to hear for music!
Kerry picked a fight out of sheer spite,
deep in the heart of Texas,

But Bush said "bye bye" to the liberal's lie,
deep in the heart of Texas.
Max Cleland was used, but he's just confused
deep in the heart of Texas,
Reminds me of, Theresa's "shove",
deep in the heart of Texas.

The liberals wail, along the trail,
deep in the heart of Texas,
The liars pushed, to con George Bush,
deep in the heart of Texas.
But he drew a line in the sand, said "Get off this land!"
deep in the heart of Texas,

Now the liberals bawl, and bawl and bawl,
deep in the heart of Texas.
And we can all look to their downfall
deep in the heart of Texas!

I just put ten books on order and will be taking them to Veteran's Hospitals, etc.

They told me it would be 1 1/2 weeks. Not too bad. Right after the convention.

A real man doesn't send a pathetic surrogate to run his fool's errand.

And, Kerry is gunna make America stronger? HE'S gunna fight terrorism?

HE CAN'T EVEN DELIVER A NOTE TO HIS POLITICAL OPPONENT!

In case you missed it, here's Bush's letter to Kerry:

Following is the text of a letter to Sen. John Kerry signed by a number of pro-Bush Vietnam veterans, including several GOP congressmen.

Dear Senator Kerry,

We are pleased to welcome your campaign representatives to Texas today. We honor all our veterans, all whom have worn the uniform and served our country. We also honor the military and National Guard troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan today. We are very proud of all of them and believe they deserve our full support.

That's why so many veterans are troubled by your vote AGAINST funding for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, after you voted FOR sending them into battle. And that's why we are so concerned about the comments you made AFTER you came home from Vietnam. You accused your fellow veterans of terrible atrocities -- and, to this day, you have never apologized. Even last night, you claimed to be proud of your post-war condemnation of our actions.

We're proud of our service in Vietnam. We served honorably in Vietnam and we were deeply hurt and offended by your comments when you came home.

You can't have it both ways. You can't build your convention and much of your campaign around your service in Vietnam, and then try to say that only those veterans who agree with you have a right to speak up. There is no double standard for our right to free speech. We all earned it.

You said in 1992 "we do not need to divide America over who served and how." Yet you and your surrogates continue to criticize President Bush for his service as a fighter pilot in the National Guard.

We are veterans too -- and proud to support President Bush. He's been a strong leader, with a record of outstanding support for our veterans and for our troops in combat. He's made sure that our troops in combat have the equipment and support they need to accomplish their mission.

He has increased the VA health care budget more than 40% since 2001 -- in fact, during his four years in office, President Bush has increased veterans funding twice as much as the previous administration did in eight years ($22 billion over 4 years compared to $10 billion over 8.) And he's praised the service of all who served our country, including your service in Vietnam.

We urge you to condemn the double standard that you and your campaign have enforced regarding a veteran's right to openly express their feelings about your activities on return from Vietnam.

Sincerely,

Texas State Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson

Rep. Duke Cunningham

Rep. Duncan Hunter

Rep. Sam Johnson

Lt. General David Palmer

Robert O'Malley, Medal of Honor Recipient

James Fleming, Medal of Honor Recipient

Lieutenant Colonel Richard Castle (Ret.)

Paid for by Bush-Cheney '04, Inc.

lol, from that story:

"I tried to accept that letter and he would not give it to me," said Patterson. "He would not face me. He kept rolling away from me. He's quite mobile."
