Republican Candidate For Congress In The Second District of Mississippi To Speak At GOP Convention In New York On Monday
(Greenville, MS) Clinton B. LeSueur, the Republican candidate running for Congress in the Second District of Mississippi, will address the Republican National Convention in New York on Monday.
"It is an honor to be chosen to speak at this year's convention," LeSueur said. "We are running a tough, grassroots campaign in Mississippi. And it's a privilege to be able to tell the nation about what's happening here."
LeSueur, who received 44% of the vote against Bennie Thompson in 2002 despite being outspent nearly 7:1, wants voters to know that despite being asked to speak at the Republican Convention, he is a candidate who is running to represent all people of the Second District.
"While I am a Republican, this election isn't just about being a Republican or being a Democrat," said LeSueur. "This race is about making sure that the voice of everyone in our district is represented in Congress. Black or white, rich or poor, a Member of Congress needs to understand the perspectives of everyone if he is going to be a voice for his community in Washington. The Second District of Mississippi doesn't have that right now, so we're working very hard every day to get our message out."
LeSueur, 35, lives in Greenville. He is a journalist who has interned at the White House and holds a bachelor's degree from Rust College and master's degree from American University. He has written for a number of publications, including the nationally distributed USA Today.
