Try to join or organize a rally - they are very, very cathartic and a good way to release pent-up frustrations in a positive fashion. We've been doing "Pop-Up" rallies all over town - sometimes only 2 or 3 people - sometimes a couple of dozen. We just stand at a busy intersection on the sidewalk with our American Flag and a Bush-Cheney poster and people go CRAZY! In a good way! Of course, we get the finger from a few people as well.

>>to all you married dudes out there, is it worth it??? Or should I just give up now?<<
Be very, very careful about the the woman you marry. The most important thing to consider is her core values.
I would also advise not sleeping with her before you get married. If she has a problem with this, she has her priorities all screwed up. If she insists on this, she is a woman of character, and she is worth considering. I know this goes against popular culture and male nature, but believe me, a woman who has conservative values is is well worth the wait.

I know humor works but it is becoming more difficult to find humor in it all. I guess that is one of the reasons I am hooked and have hooked others of FR. The wit here is unmatched. I'll try just laughing at the idiots.

When I was your age it was Vietnam. Most young people do not think to deeply and just pick up on the dribble from the left. It sounds right but is all lies. Many of my friends during that period drank the cool aid. I worked for my father then so I must have been trained up to see the idiocy in the left.

I've noticed that liberals who are unfamiliar with my political leanings are never hesitant to start slipping in digs about President Bush. I've had two neighbors do this to me recently. I had to just let it go. If I didn't know someone's politics, I wouldn't start going off about Kerry.

Even the best marriages have ruff spots in them. It's after you get through those times and look back you realize that everything was worth it. It seems to me that I have more respect / honor towards my wife after we do "get through it"
Just my 2 cents

LOL When I get that way I have to take a timeout from the News. Go outside, check the roses. See what else is happening. You'll come back with a bit more balance. I think we all get that way.

Right, there are a lot of uniformed Republicans out there.

Sometimes it feels that way. I live in LALA land where the Hollyweird roam. It tough voting in a state where it seems it doesn't make a difference. It is almost like voting for spite.

I grew up where politics were always discussed. Have you ever heard when two Irishmen discuss politics you get three points of view? That was the dinner table. Can't stop it now. I used to be able discuss things without losing it. I am finding it hard to be civil when it comes to Kerry.

See my previous post. I'm a 50 something male professional in a small city, who was divorced last year. I thought women would be swarming all over me after I was back on the market. Didn't happen.
Tried the Internet dating sites, including the Russian ones and nothing happened. Went to the local meat market summer concerts, asked lots of people at work to be on the lookout for prospects. Nothing happened.
It's a jungle out there.
Be yourself, be confident, work out, lose weight if you need to. Get cosmetic work on your teeth, face or whatever needs to be done.
Good hunting.

I heard a woman caller today that spoke about the silent voters who can't wait to vote AGAINST Kerry.
Who are they? The children of Vietnam Vets who suffered the taunts and name calling because their fathers were in Vietnam. They experienced the shame and humiliation seeing their fathers spat upon.
This woman spoke with such passion and controlled anger. One got the idea that Kerry would definitely not want to come face to face with her.

I know someone who just lost a friend over the issues. I guess they were really not friends.

You said:
"I am making others uncomfortable. The evening is ruined ". Which indicated to me that you would like to have a pleasant evening occasionally. I gave you some suggestions, on how to distract yourself and others and have a much better chance at a pleasant evening, where people are comfortable.
As I said, when you are around people you know well, who agree with you, then you can talk politics and get it out of your system. When you are in "mixed company", politically speaking, talk about everything, but politics, if you do want to have a pleasant evening and care about others having a pleasant evening. Otherwise your invitations may dry up.
