North Korea, Firing Machine Guns at Defectors

AUGUST 27, 2004 21:55

Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post reported on August 27 that North Korea allegedly has fired machine guns at the country’s defectors.

The newspaper quoted Tim Peters, who founded “Helping Hands,” as saying, “A foreigner who is very much knowledgeable of the plight of the North Korean defectors said he heard gun shots in the border area,” and added, “The North Korean government is thought to have issued an order to shoot people.”

He also said, “I heard that someone saw at least two or three dead bodies floating on the Duman River,” and guessed, “They were not identified, but I think they must have defectors.” An activist of an international organization for North Korean human rights, Joanna Hosaniak, said, “I heard that the number of North Korean secret agents increased in China, and electric barb wire and extra guards have been installed in the border area.”

We should all be jealous of N. Korea's national healthcare system.

"More example of N. Korean regime getting paranoid."

I hope it means the regime is going down. We'll hear nothing about it until it's a done deal. I just pray it happens without Kim doing something totally insane.

It almost unimaginable that North Korea is so bad, but then you realize that North Koreans are constantly trying to slip into China for more freedom.

And, how does this differ from East Germany and the Soviet Unuion before the collapse of the USSR and the wall?

They did the same thing.

Welcome to totalitarian governments. This is what the leftists want the US to become and stupid people from the Pacific Northwest to FloriDUH and from Maine to Mexifornia are falling for it.

This is the regime that FAR PREFERS JOHN KERRY TO BE ELECTED, running out the negotiation clock until next January, if possible, when they hope he takes office. We are in BIG trouble if he DOES!

RE #10

Hear, hear. John Kerry will actually end up starting the major war in E. Asia, because he will embolden N. Korea and China further, leaving U.S. no other choice but the final catastrophic action.

"We are in BIG trouble if he DOES!"

We're already in big trouble thanks to the failure of two Presidents in 12 years to control the development of North Korea's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile technology. We're just in bigger trouble if Kerry gets elected.
