3rd Battalion 6th Marines Weapons Company

Ok,  We are past the 1/2 way point of the deployment and have really hit our stride.  The companies have settled into their new locations and are having immediate effects on the bad guys.  The Marines of the Teufelhuden Bn (3/6) will spend the next few months ensuring that Afghanistan has a solid security umbrella in which reconstruction and advancement of the once Al Quada safe haven can move forward into the year 2005.

India Company and Kilo have both struck out on their own and are in the mist of conducting their own operations.  This will be a good challenge for both of those companies in that they will be pushed from a physical as well as intellectual standpoint.  Their main challenge will be to incorporate the local leadership into the security and reconstruction effort while still keeping a watchful eye out for Anti-Coalition Militia activity.  Lima Company has rejoined the Battalion after a busy few months on separate duty as the QRF and Bagram Guard Force.  As the QRF, Lima was able to conduct a number of missions in a very successful manner.  Chief among these accomplishments were the capture of a known bomb maker and the rescue of a downed helicopter.  Good Job Lima!

That is it for now.  We appreciate all the support that we have been receiving from the families back home.  Hopefully, the next time I write we will be able to give some information about our return home.  Until then, God Bless and take care.

Thanks for sharing. So often when people find out I have relatives in the service thay ask about Iraq. When I mention Afghanistan, it's like a light bulb going on in their brains. I mean you can see them thinking, "oh, yeah. We're still there, aren't we?" With so many folks it's out-of-sight, out-of-mind.

Cowgirl, Hi. I'm new here. I have a question about the photos that you posted. Is your husband in 3/6 Weapons PLT., or 3/6 Lima Co- weapons plt? My son is in Lima Co, weapons plt. and one of them guys in the top photo looks alot like him.

Welcome to FR!

I am a civilian without family serving.

The photos are from the DoD news website: www.defendamerica.mil.

You will find many allies here. You might want to visit the CanteenFoxHole, or A Day in the Life of President Bush daily threads, introduce yourself (be welcomed - find info, get virtual 'hugs' from other military parents, troops, supporters!).

Bless you for raising your son up right.

You have Freepmail.
