Hi, I am a life-long republican from Iowa, and am very concerned with the direction the Republican party is going. As a man of faith, I am very skeptical that George Bush holds the same faiths I do, I feel he politicizes it FAR too much. I hope this is a true and open dialogue so that we may keep to our values and keep “the good” in office. I want my two children to grow up in a country with real Republican values, many of which reflect the Christian household I was brought up in. I was also taught there MUST be a separation of church and state, a small government, and compassion for fellow man are necessary. I want to live in a country where I can speak my mind about the issues that matter to me without fear.

Some of the things I am concerned with are: What is Cheney saying “Go **** Yourself” to other national politicians?? And making money through Haliburton off of the war? He thus Breaks the commandment “Thou shalt not steal”. See: http://www.voanews.com/article.cfm?objectID=E6171DC3-72C4-45CA-A8F32792A426EFAA

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/10/25/halliburton.memo/

http://www.cfo.com/article/1,5309,14806%7C%7CT%7C2381,00.html?f=home_todayinfinance

I do not think that increasing the national debt by $445 billion! dollars is very conservative, I myself have no debt and was raised to never ever go in debt. My kids are inheriting a massive debt from my generation that their kids just may be paying on too!

Now that it proven there were no weapons of mass destruction, didn’t President Bush break the commandment “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor”?

Going to war breaks the commandment “Thou shalt not kill”. My family has fought in every American war since the Civil War. War is SOMETIMES justified obviously, but violence begets violence. Even more ~ not supporting our troops properly, putting them in harm's way needlessly, cutting their pay and screwing with Veterans Benefits.

I have several friends who have traveled abroad this summer and everywhere they went people were enraged by the actions of our government, I want to live in a world where my children can travel abroad at will peacefully.

And to quote a fellow blog poster: "The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing." Take that, hand-wringing liberals!

So, I guess I am asking any fellow citizens what they think, any suggestions?? Where has our party gone? The other option looks better everyday!

Thanks, Mark

You mean like going to Madrid (BOOM!), or London (nearly BOOM!), or Israel, or Pakistan, or Indonesia, or on the continent of Africa, or NYC, or Wash D.C., or PA?

Hey lifelong Pubbie, if you don't $#!@!&! care for the $#!@!&! Vice President's $#!@!&! language to Leaky Leahy, what does a good Christian like yourself think of John F'in Kerry's $#!@!&! Rolling Stone interview?

I have never voted Republican in a presidential election, but after listening to your arguments I will never again vote for a democrat.

"I was also taught there MUST be a separation of church and state"

No. The Constitution says that 'CONGRESS shall make no law establishing religion....'

It does NOT say that religion could not be established by the states.

As a matter of fact. It says that states have the RIGHT to establish whatever they wish.

There is no constitutional 'law' prohibiting religion in any government established institution, just as long as Congress doesn't make it an 'official' policy.

"Well, I'm a lifelong liberal Democrat, but this year I'm voting for George W. Bush!!"

Beautiful! Deserves a thread all its own.

I travel 20 weeks a year and put in several business trips a year to Europe and Asia. I have NEVER been harassed and I have never personally seen anyone enraged at the US (except in a San Francisco peace march where the protesters attacked tourists and children). Actually, many people abroad have told me they support a strong America and a strong response against Islamist terrorism. I saw far fewer peace signs this past summer. I recall maybe seeing 2 in an entire week. Just because you hear about groups of noisy protesters abroad, don't think that everyone over there is anti-American or sides only with the terrorists. It is not that clear-cut. There are many different opinions on terrorism and the war in Iraq, just as there are right here at home.

You have not been here long enough to know about the Viking Kitties. These benign sounding critters will seek you out and do great damage when you least expect it. At that point it is too late to seek help. They are merciless. You did it to yourself.

Bring on the Kitties!

I can't decide what's more insulting: the poor usage of scriptures, or the assumption that freepers are so stupid they can't spot this kind of post for what it is.

Sure you are, buddy. Sure you are.

Now which seminar did you attend again? Slate Magazine's? Michael Moore's? The DNC's?
