Twelve Nepalese hostages have been beheaded by their captors in Iraq.
The hostages were kidnapped by the Islamist Army of Ansar al-Sunna, which has shown a video of the slaughter.
The footage, which apprears on the army's website, show militants apparently slitting the throats of their hostages.
A statement on the website said: "We have carried out the sentence of God against 12 Nepalese who came from their country to fight the Muslims and to serve the Jews and the Christians ... believing in Buddha as their God."
More follows...
IIRC Nepal is home of the Gurkhas, some of the fiercest and most respected fighters in the annals of the British Army. Methinks the Islamists may have ticked off the wrong bunch of mountain dwelling, kukri swinging, tough little SOBs.
I foresee a minor realignment of British troop assignments.
Well, these people are surely making an effort to keep the Iraqi populace cowed and terrorized, if nothing else.
Muslim terrorism needs to become unacceptable worldwide. Too bad so many, such as the American and European Left, think it can be used to their advantage.
Nice job smearing Americans, dude. It's an Iraqi decision - not one I agree with, but at least place the blame where it belongs.
Let's be fair now. One man's hostage beheader is another man's freedom fighter.
You are correct in thinking that the Gurhka regiments of the Royal Army are raised in Nepal. India also raises some there.
I think that Mr Blair should consider a realignment of Her Majesty's Army to move some of those very tough troops to Iraq to replace other infantry.
Furthermore, I did not draw the cartoon.
Finally, that is what happened, and that cartoon
reported what did happen as PC overcame the correct response.
Take care.
You didn't draw the cartoon?!? No, really?!? Gee, thanks.
Yes, are these Ghurkas by any chance?

BTW, you seem to have forgetten that the first step to escaping a trap
is to recognize you are in one.
America's present trap is political correctness.
Iyad Mansoor, director-general of the Morning Star Company, a Jordan-based services firm which had contracted the 12 Nepalese workers for jobs in Iraq, said he had no information on the beheading of the Nepalese captives.
"I'm shocked to hear such news," he told AP. "The last I heard was that the Nepalese government was in contact with Iraqi clergymen and others in an effort to set the 12 men free."
Jaish Ansar al-Sunna said on August 23 it had kidnapped 12 Nepali citizens "for their cooperation with the United States in fighting Islam and its people" and described them as working for a Nepalese company that works under a Jordanian firm doing business in Iraq.
Last week a videotape was aired on the Arabic-language television network Al-Jazeera purportedly showing the 12.
Okay everyone, calm down. John Kerry says the threat of terrorism is exaggerated. This is just a little quirk. < /sarcasm >
Islam is the evil cancer; militant Islam is but one symptom.
Bingo! See my post #34.
I object. There is absolutely no basis for that comment. Losing a dozen soldiers is not the same as losing the entire war.
You want proof? The Creator is NOT the God of confusion, but the God of perfect majesty and power. As much wealth as the oil-producing islamite countries amass, they are SO disorganized, SO confused in their goals, they FAIL to conquer or accomplish anything of significance. Countries with little or no similar resources of wealth, but who are openly dependant upon the Sovereign for their survival by far outpace the islamites.
I think the cartoon is right though --- we're being too careful of their "holy places" when those are the centers of terror.
Yes, but they serve mostly in British and India army. Their own army is rather small and they are fighting with communist guerrillas.
That cartoon, as sad as it makes us feel, is the truth. Thanks for the post.
Military leaders should give the islamites an ultimatum: clear ALL hostiles from "holy" sites within 72 hours or they will be forever flattened. If the citizens consider their sites to be so "holy", they'll remove those offenses by their own hands. If not, well, they were warned. The next shot from a masque would be its last.
