McAuliffe slams GOP parody of Purple Hearts
Washington Times ^ | 9/01/04 | Stephen Dinan

NEW YORK — Democrats said yesterday that the Bush administration and Republican officials must have been behind the hundreds of "Purple Heart" adhesive bandages mocking Sen. John Kerry, which were distributed Monday night on the Republican convention floor.
"Having myself chaired two Democratic conventions, let's be crystal clear. This did not just happen," said Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe.
"Two hundred and fifty Band-Aids handed out on the floor of the convention does not happen without the leadership of the party and the people who are running this convention, who are ultimately responsible to the president," he said.

He was referring to the several hundred small plastic bandages that several hundred delegates were given Monday night by Morton Blackwell, a Republican National Committee member from Virginia.
Each bandage had a purple heart image on it and the written message: "it was just a self-inflicted scratch, but you see I got a Purple Heart for it."

Just having finished Unfit For Command, and watching the progression of the Swifties ads on TV and the Internet go from Undeserved Medals, to lying about being in Cambodia, to Harming the POW’s with his lies, to disgracing the honor of Vietnam Vets by throwing his medals in the trash, Kerry had better hold on to his hat relative to what’s coming next.

With documented proof recently provided by the FBI through the Freedom Of Information Act it is proved that John Kerry met with Communist North Vietnamese negotiators and Viet Kong representatives in Paris in 1971 while Kerry was still in the Navy Reserves (still in the military). Kerry could be standing face to face with a 10 ton Gorilla when the Swifties hammer him with this one.

It is against specific Codes of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and also against specific Articles of the Constitution to do what Kerry did.

The FBI documents also place Kerry at a meeting where the assignation of sitting U. S. Senators is discussed. This is a violation of law, if not reported to the authorities, as a conspiracy.

Judicial Watch is attempting to get the authorities to pursue the matters. I don’t know what their stance is. But when the Swifties smack Kerry across the airwaves with this information, it’s gonna leave a mark!

Yeah and 100,000 vagrants invading New York City to disrupt the GOP convention doesn't just happen without the backing and organizing of the Democratic Party and Terry McAuliffe.

Terry McAwful's empire is crumbling. He'll be lucky if his fellow Dims don't linch him after this election is over. Is that all that you've got Terry? Bandaids?

This is so much fun to watch!

Calling McAuliffe a hypocrite is getting redundant.

Remember he was still a Naval officer during that meeting, Naval reserve but still....

It's hilarious. I hope they make a Federal case out of it. They need to call for a Congressional investigation of BandAid Gate. ;-)

How did they know it is ONLY 250 bandaids?

It seems a $5 box of bandaids is a more effective advertising tool than any of the DNC's $5,000,000.00 ad campaign.

must be hard for the DNC to fight with no ammo.

Assignation - maybe they were referring to Sen Kennedy? But seriously, maybe - assassination?
