Text of speech by Sen. Zell Miller

Text of speech by Democratic Sen. Zell Miller of Georgia as prepared for delivery Wednesday at the Republican National Convention:

Since I last stood in this spot, a whole new generation of the Miller Family has been born: Four great grandchildren.

Along with all the other members of our close-knit family, they are my and Shirley's most precious possessions.

And I know that's how you feel about your family also. Like you, I think of their future, the promises and the perils they will face.

Like you, I believe that the next four years will determine what kind of world they will grow up in.

And like you, I ask which leader is it today that has the vision, the willpower and, yes, the backbone to best protect my family?

The clear answer to that question has placed me in this hall with you tonight. For my family is more important than my party.

There is but one man to whom I am willing to entrust their future and that man's name is George Bush.

I saw the speech, it was really terrific! Kerry and company should be hiding in embarrassment.

Family and security was the nail he used. Pointing out that Kerry is a walking intell and security failure was the hammer.

Thanks loads and WHAT A SPEECH. Nothing short of death would have prevented me from watching it. I believe he will succeed in picking up the "undecided" votes! Keynote speeches in the past have done just that. Way to go, Zell. Great man.

Great job by Zell Miller !!

His eyes got opened when he arrived in Washington and seen how the leftist controlled his party and it wasn't a pretty sight.

One thing all should note. Zell did not look at notes during that speech one time. It was from the heart, from memory, and from knowledge he has gained directly from personal experience. He hates those Rat-Bastages as all those with an ounce of common sense should.

I could not view this event on TV, I could only read the text here and at Newsday.

I am at a loss to find adequate words of praise for what this man has done.
