You know you're a gun nut when you can take a $400 hit and smile because you've really got the one you want this time. :)
To: TERMINATTOR
That is like loading a dud where the primer fires and lodges the projectile somewhere inside the barrel, then manually loading a live round on top of it.

There was a guy at Gabe Suarez's Frontsight acadamy in Nevada who shot himself in the leg do to a trigger shoe, not a good thing on a combat handgun.
I'm surprised they didn't make this guy remove it.

I'm quite fond of target triggers on revolvers, even for double action work. But long travel and a heavier pull gives you more room for error than a 4 pound 1911 trigger.
Of course, not getting on the trigger until you're on target isn't a bad idea either.

This guy has nothing on Eaker. Tom can destroy a perfectly good M-1 and seldom bothers with a mere pistol.
........ er speaking of which, where is that 9mm of mine Eaker?

Around 20 years ago, I had a mishap with a series 70 Colt, (which btw, was one of the best I ever had).
I was plinking using my own handloads. Shooting double taps and noticed a squib round but had fired the second before I could stop. The second shot kicked hard but I didn't see anything wrong with the gun.
I took it home and field stripped it. That was when I noticed a bulge in the barrel. I eventually replaced the barrel although it shot as well as ever, which was very good.
As near as I can figure, I had put too much lube on the case and it had contaminated the powder. The bullet had stayed in the barrel.
One thing I never figured out was how that squib had enough power to eject and chamber a second round.

I actually still have one on an older Ruger .357 Blackhawk that was originally set up with a 4x scope for woodchuck hunting. It stays in the safe. On a combat handgun, a trigger shoe is likely to get caught on something.

PS: Just to get even... Shot my new to me Smith Mod 25 in 45 ACP (vintage 1959) this weekend, got groups equal to my Kimber Gold Match. Some guy selling off his father's estate... 99%+ with cokebottle grips... $350.I never stop at garbage sales but I did this time.
Bought the same gun for fifteen cents!!!!
Still not too happy as I am almost out a quarter, but I do have a 1911.
For what thats worth.......

A .44 Special is the only thing left in my current Smith wish list. Triplelocks are out, but a nice Model 24 would be nice. Mmmmm, .44 special.
I too would like to find a .44, preferably something with a 3 or 4" barrel. Luckily we're on opposite sides of the country.
I like your idea of finders fees.
I've been filling out my .357 collection this summer. A King Cobra w/2.5" barrel, a Model 19 w/4" and a Model 66 with a 2.5" barrel. (I guess I've been filling out my snubby collection also.)
I'm really wanting a 'bulldog' though, something that starts with a "4" that has a 3" or less barrel. I'd love a 3" 25 (625) or the equivalent in a .44.

In the safe still defective. We can meet up or I can get off of my butt and make sure my buddy takes it to his country smith.
Let me know HC.

Also weeping. I have a 625 with a 5" barrel and love it. It's a kick ass PPC gun and I'm itching to take it to a pin match. I've had the SDM sight installed and had a smith friend install the Miculek springs.

I really don't think you are the one to do the job. Shoot enough ammo in a mixed caliber environment, especially .40 and .45 and the swap will happen sooner or later. Now you may go pound sand if it will make you feel better.
Peace, Dan

Pound your own sand, I have work to do.
Peace or war; I don't chose, I respond.
