"The only people Clinton could sway are those who are
already committed to Kerry - the true believers."

I beg to differ. Clinton could be a lifesaver for Kerry for one overwhelming reason. He's the first Black President, and he could rally an indifferent Black electorate to come out for kerry even though they have no use for him. Don't think "switching votes", think "turnout."

The 'crap base is about as thrilled with kerry as we are. But the Willie can stir them up like no one else, credulous fools that they are. And turning out the Base is what elections seem to hinge on these days.

The fact of the matter is, Kerry is just plain boring!!! At least with Klinton, we had a REASON to get enraged! Kerry, on the other hand, is about as exciting to watch and listen to as my garage door.

Lurch has had such an easy ride. Only in Massachusetts (the only state McGovern carried) could a Viet Nam war protester be elected for 20 years to the Senate without having his name on one single significant piece of legislation. Twenty years as Senator with nothing to show for it, with the all charisma and looks of a crypt keeper, but he's a Democrat in loony Massachusetts and that's all that matters!

This has put him at a marked disadvantage now that he's actually facing non-Massachussetts voters. Not every American is from Boston, the rest of the U.S. is very different and there's some reason to believe he didn't know that. And his second heiress wife's humongous fortune with all those mansions he's enjoyed for the last 13 years hasn't taught him either how to appeal to voters outside his elite hothouse environment. Reality's a real bummer sometimes.:)

a loyal Democrat who has the party's best interests at heart.

Indeed, the party's best interests. Clinton could care less if Kerry goes down in flames...and apparently thinks he will.

The Dems, led by Clinton, are entering damage control mode to minimize down-ticket losses if Kerry continues to flounder like he has for the last 6 weeks. Hillary will need all the senators and congressmen she can get when she runs and the Toons don't want Kerry to undermine that.

but I do think he's a loyal Democrat who has the party's best interests at heart.

You have got to be kidding! Clinton only puts Clinton first and foremost in his life!

I have to disagree with you. Clinton is still an asset.

I doubt it's that simple. I wouldn't assume that Bill would be any more influential in a Hillary White House than in any other Democratic White House.

That is, he'll be influential regardless, if Dem gets in.

I think the party's interest and Bill's interest are not that far apart.

I suggest "Even Bush's children admit, hamsters die under his presidency! Not under a Kerry presidency!"

Versaid great stuff I proposed to this cute little nurse i just met on that stuff when i had my beeberoscopy

they gave me a dose of that stuff just before my appendectomy last year. they had me strapped to the table with my arms fully extended. I was later told by the nursing staff that I said "give us barabbas!", and "shouldn't there be a sign over my head?" before the anesthetist put me fully under. I don't remember a bit of it(and perhaps it's best that way)

"Odds are that there was no leak - sKerry just wants to associate his name with Clinton's, and the only that the press will even notice is if he proclaims "Leak Leak!!!".

Hey, once they put that IV into you and start the drip, they ask you to count back from 100. During my angiogram, my cardiologist told me I gave a very comprehensive account of certain lepodoptera in Central America, a central part of my thesis. Point is, once the drip starts, it's leak, leak, leak all the portions of your memory that somehow form the basis of your personality. Glad I didn't embarass myself. I imagine Bubba quite talkative regarding post-graduate work.

As horrible as Kerry is...let us pray Klinton II does not run. She will be the Wicked Witch of the West...worse than her sis...ahh...hubbie, the Wicked Witch of the North.

Think semi-auto ban, High-capacity clip ban, Waco slaughter, Ruby Ridge slaughter....I can't talk anymore..

We need Bush and we need to groom a strong replacement to bury Hitlery in 2008.

Hmmm, lets figure out where the leak came from..

The leak included specifics of a conversation between two individuals

One wouldn't want even the existance of the call made public.

The other wants his wife to run for President against a clear field in 4 years.

You figure it out.

I'd say, Hillary was in the room when they were talking....She heard Bill's side of the conversation.....No need to have him leak, when she could do it herself....Very capable woman you know (/Sarc)
