'60 Minutes' Documents on Bush Might Be Fake

(CNSNews.com) - The 32-year-old documents produced Wednesday by the CBS News program "60 Minutes," shedding a negative light on President Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard, may have been forged using a current word processing program, according to typography experts. Three independent typography experts told CNSNews.com they were suspicious of the documents from 1972 and 1973 because they were typed using a proportional font, not common at that time, and they used a superscript font feature found in today's Microsoft Word program. More to Come

My quick email to Dan Rather

Connie Chung would never have let this happen.

That'll hurt for sure... LOL!

And what about the discrepancy in the signatures?

I some screen captures of the doucuments and pasted them to a new image in paintshop pro for a comparison. Check them out

The last signature is from G.W.Bush's request to be discharged so he could go to Harvard business school

Excellent research work. I suspected as much when I heard about this interview with Barnes on 60 Minutes and these 'newly released documents' materialized at about the same time.

Bush released all of his service records AND signed SF 180.

Mr. Kerry?

FReeper IncPen created the following 4-frame dissolve between the "old" and new documents.

And THAT, my FRiends, is the final word. The "old" memo isn't old. Kudos to IncPen.

Do this:

Set Open Office or Microsoft Office to their default margin settings, and set the font on Times Roman 12 point (this is default on Open Office).

Now, open one of the memos in a window and type it word for word in your word processor.

Both word processors put the line breaks in exactly the same places that they do on the "original" memos that were supposedly typed over 30 years ago on a typewriter.

I saw a blog on another thread that showed one person's attempt to do this with Microsoft Office. Out of curiosity, I did the same thing with Open Office (www.openoffice.org)

The results were the same. I could type this in Open Office, print it out, run it through a copier or fax 10 times and give you a document that looks exactly like the one that CBS claims has been verified authentic by an expert.

If you don't believe it yet, the mainstream media is not your friend.

I'm real interested to see if Hannity picks up on this today.................

Isn't it nice to be one step ahead of "the media".

I see something else that may be a smoking gun.
The zip code on the letter is 77034 for Houston. I wonder what date that zip code was added. This was less than ten years after the zip code was mandatory, and a lot were added as populations grew.

These obviously cannot be forgeries because they don't mention yellowcake anywhere, nor do they allude to al Qaeda operatives meeting with Iraqi officials.

"Anyone out there remember the feel of a typewritten paper and how that compares with documents generated by a laser, ink jet or dot matrix printer?"

Yes, but it's my understanding that these were photocopies .. with the look of being copies of copies of copies. That would make it difficult to get the "feel" of the paper as a typewritten page.

CBS was never duped. I'm sure they willfully ignored anything that hinted of an outcome they didn't want to achieve.

In my opinion, this could seal the deal.

Donald Rumsfeld should give the comment on this:

"Mr. Secretary, what do you think of the false attacks by CBS , the AP, the other networks and the NY Times / Washington Post on the Bush Administration and on the President personally"

Rummy: "That's OLD MEDIA!"
