There is now a huge, handwritten sign printed on teleype roll paper stretched across newsroom ceiling.

It reads:

21 - Bush's grade would "normally" be abbreviated "1Lt" not "1st Lt"

CBS gave a copy of the forged memos to the White House and the White House graciously made copies and distributed them to the rest of the media knowing they would run with them.

WH response will be, "We made copies of the memos CBS gave us because we would never expect CBS to use forged documents in their reporting."

If I remember right, when we used a typewriter, we used to put two spaces after a period. In typesetting and on the computer, only one space is used. It appears to me that there is only one space in the doc that I saw.
