The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Muslim group takes responsibility for 9-11: 'We are so sorry'

This September 11 marks the third unforgettable anniversary of the worst mass murder in American history.

After September 11, many in the Muslim world chose denial and hallucination rather than face up to the sad fact that Muslims perpetrated the 9-11 terrorist acts and that we have an enormous problem with extremism and support for terrorism. Many Muslims, including religious leaders, and "intellectuals" blamed 9-11 on a Jewish conspiracy and went as far as fabricating a tale that 4000 Jews did not show up for work in the World Trade Center on 9-11. Yet others blamed 9-11 on an American right wing conspiracy or the U.S. Government which allegedly wanted an excuse to invade Iraq and "steal" Iraqi oil.

"Terrorists recruiting more women"

By MARGOT DUDKEVITCHARTICLE SNIPPET: "According to Shin Bet officials, terrorist organizations continue to believe that women are less susceptible to checks by security forces and are therefore more likely to enter Israel without raising suspicions.

Since the outbreak of violence four years ago, 40 female terrorists were recruited to carry out suicide bombing attacks. Of that number, seven actually carried out attacks, while security forces arrested the remainder.

Thirty-four of the women were not married; three were divorced; two were married with children; and one was a widow. Between January and July this year 10 female suicide bombers were recruited by terrorist organizations compared with 14 for the entire year of 2003.

Most of the women recruited to the cause are in their mid-twenties, and represent a cross section of Palestinian society, ranging from the well-educated to the poor and uneducated. Of the 33 arrested since 2000, 16 had completed high school education, and 11 were university students.

In order to avoid being noticed the women usually change their external appearance and adopt a modern style of dress that blends in with local Israeli fashion. In some instances, they pose as pregnant women by stuffing a pillow underneath their garments."

the United States will withdraw a total of 12,500 troops from South Korea by 2008.

That's not even a full sized infantry division. IIRC that would be the 2nd ID aka the "Indian Head" division. They wouldn't leave some of the outfit behind. My guess is that these troops will be combat service support troops. Not frontline trigger pullers.

Tinfoil time: first, disrupt the electrical grid, then, cut off escape routes, then detonate the nukes/ieds/truck bombs etc.

Jerseygirl, that's not tinfoil! It is, in reality, a cogent, well reasoned attack plan. Your next post says: What can we do about it?

Not much. I would add one other potential factor to your proposed attack scenario: Before bringing down the grid and initiating the cascade of events, throw the country into an even greater sense of panic by attacking a number of school sites around the country using manpower that is low level and expendable that has infiltrated across the borders. These small cells need not much in the way of support or high level training. They just need a specific target and a lot of cold blooded determination. That and the understanding that their mission is not to survive, but inflict the first wave of terror.

Imagine the impact as our children begin to be murdered and then the power grids come down. What can be done? There is a response, but I doubt that the liberals will allow it, even in the face of this horror. Care to guess, anybody?

There is NO doubt about it. The liberals would rather protect the enemy than the military, coalition troops and us. Human rights you know....Expose the prison scandal to incite the extremists to commit even more attrocities. Also incredible some of the agencies I used to believe were created to protect us now function as ethically corrupt agencies with extreme liberal idealism and anti-American politics.

"If a terrorist shows up, has enough money, finds the right organization ... (he) could get across the border," he said. "That's a risk."

I think this has been going on for years. It's not a "risk" at this point, it's a virtual certainty. What is more of a risk, IMHO is the possibility that AQ has joined forces with the gang elements in this country. That presents terrorist infiltrators with built in infrastructure and conduits for obtaining full auto weapons, explosives, legit bank accounts and logistical support: safe houses, food, etc. It is a built in terrain assessment of the target areas. Things that no foreign born terrorist would have access to under any other circumstances. For example, intimate knowledge of law enforcement tactics and response times for the target areas. The possibilities are endless. Gangs get something out it, too. Money I am sure is the first lure. AQ has plenty of that. They will also make a partnership in drug trafficking. Revenge is a huge part of motivation here for the gangs. Gangs are merciless in their desire to exact revenge. They are very nearly as cold blooded as the AQ.

Has there been any follow up as to the status of this missing barrell?

The same kind of follow-up as the foreign ship jumpers, as far as I know still at large in America.

What is the most obvious response to protecting our schools that the liberals will never allow, for it would be the first building block to destroying their entire worldview?

I always knew ole Jerseygirl had a warrior instinct, but I didnt know she pretty good at ops planning..good job jersey! Its a dark skill, but it comes in handy from time to time.

I've been doing some reading lately, and a lot of travel. I've noticed indicators similar to what Exsoldier said in his post.

I think both of you guys are pretty much dead on target, but I have noticed one thing that stands out.

Al Qaeda is apparently having problems recruiting American muslims, and they have to import their own to insure quality control of their operations.

This by no means rules out gang involvement. Instead it addresses the command and control of the individual rank and file terrorists.

Agreed. Although I suspect gang contacts are garnered through the same conduit used to smuggle operatives across the Mexican border. IOW, the coyotes would have the gang contacts, because when they're not smuggling people they're smuggling drugs. They would need points of contact that have distributors and street dealers. The logical choice is the gangs.

Al Qaeda is apparently having problems recruiting American muslims, and they have to import their own to insure quality control of their operations.

Sure is hard to find good help these days. I suspect that American muslims, although they may or may not individually support Jihad, there is one thing that is hard to overcome....in this country. It doesn't matter if you're native born or immigrant, if you've been here long enough to become Americanized you have gained an element into your very being that will make it very difficult to commit that atrocity of the combination homicide and suicide. Our lifestyle is not so harsh so as to engender the mental scarring necessary to support this. I suspect that the American muslim community will cheer from the sidelines (as long as they're not personally affected) but they lack the darkness of the soul necessary to commit themselves to such operations. Oh sure, there are always the lone "gunmen" whackos available to commit atrocious acts, but they will have their own set of motivators and it is but a remote chance that they will relate to Jihad in a pure sense.
