The other day someone who used to be a news editor at CBS made fun of all the amateur journalists sitting at their computers in their pajamas.
I consider that a badge of honor.
While the MSM sleeps, Freepers are on the job.

great rant and long overdue, imho. the media has been replaced....it has become irrelevant because they made themselves irrelevant. The internet has become the only way to find truth....and FREEREPUBLIC shares in that mission of fact-finding.

That's the phrase I've been using on the Net for about five years, calling them the "lamestream media." It hasn't caught on. Looks like the popular catch phrases will be "old media" and "new media."

I don't know squat about soap other than how to use it, but I can be a second opinion on sewing.

I was just watching that show on Fox with Cal Thomas about the media. They were shaking in their boots about the phrase MSM, which they said was being used in a derogatory sense. I like yours better.

I know. I'm about to post an essay on this topic. A little Limbaugh echo syndrome. But I don't care! We're taking over the news and it's wreaking havoc on "The Big Media."
That comment is a good sign for us. I found that my writing was conservative enough when liberals started to pick at it with impunity. Then it was time for a celebration. ;-)

Nita, I wish I shared your optimism. However, the media is just one step in a larger journey against leftist bias in our society. And perhaps the only place it is more blatant than the media is in academia itself. Well, as a member of academia, I can tell you that more and more conservatives are coming out of the closet, so to speak. And I see much promise in the current crop of students. Remember, they're Internet-savvy. Those liberal professors now have some major competition when trying to shape minds.
Take heart!

I'll see your black pajama's and raise you a pair of undies. And I've got them on my head. ( Actually I really don't, I just wanted to rub a little Abu Graib in their noses since we are unburdening our chests tonight.)

An excellent, stimulating, necessary "rant".
The Old Media know that they have a problem. But - like a scorpion - they aren't likely to change their behavior.
The Old Media is very dangerous (e.g., Rather and the "memos") and they will do all that they can to suppress us.
Many FReepers have jobs and outside interests. They bring knowledge and experience that makes them awesome truth-seekers, and truth-tellers. There will be ups and downs, but we will prevail.
Good job, Dog.

I saw that show, also. Yes, a FEW of the LSM are smart enough to be scared. Most are not that smart.

The good news is that the kids have access to computers. I'm even somewhat optimistic about the DU types. They actually come here and see the truth and some of it has to eventually rub off on them. At least they have no excuse for being stupid. The difference here at FR is that we post both conservative and liberal articles, news, etc. and then pick them apart to find the truth in them. Places like DU only tolerate one point of view. But they still encounter the truth from time to time on the internet.
