Letters to the Editor

The cost of illegal immigration

Regarding "Rounding up all illegals 'not realistic' " (Page 1, Friday) by Jerry Seper: Asa Hutchinson has once again clearly demonstrated that he is not up to the task of protecting the U.S. borders. His statements and inaction show that rich bureaucrats have little view of reality from the gated communities in which they live. Mr. Hutchinson speaks of a lack of will on the part of the American people to uproot illegal aliens in the United States. How did Mr. Hutchinson arrive at such a conclusion? The only lack of will is on his part. He speaks of the American people not wanting to cover the cost of searching out and capturing the illegals. This ploy is just a smoke screen to take the pressure off of his shoulders so he can return to his country club for a round of golf. Illegal aliens, and there are far more than the 8 million that Mr. Hutchinson acknowledges, cost the American taxpayer more than September 11, the Iraq war and every natural disaster each year. Our medical, legal and educational systems are cluttered with them. Our streets, not Mr. Hutchinson's, are plagued by illegal alien gangs. He speaks of "compassion" for illegal aliens, yet he never mentions compassion for the American citizens who pay his salary with nothing to show for it. Mr. Hutchinson is supposed to be working for the American citizen, not for some illegal-alien front organization. We need to replace Mr. Hutchinson and replace him with a hard-nosed realist who wants the job and will do it.

At least there will be more gang-bangers dying instead of racking up bills for gunshot wounds.

Let the debris die. One less to pay for. One less to breed.

They don't do the "hard dirty low paying jobs" that Americans won't do.....not because they are Real Men.

They have no skills. Even the employed ones have no skills. Have you seen the quality of construction lately?

I really don't understand how an American, living today...can think like you do. Please explain why you feel so responsible for everyone else's hardships? Why do you, (and why should I) feel like I should support the lowest 10% of a corrupt and bankrupt country's population...?

These people are trash even in Mexico....what makes you think they'll suddenly change into superimmigrant once they cross the border?

Why are you so smooshy and soft on the poor Invaders, and care less about your fellow American taxpayer?

Sorry for the tone, but I'm completely baffled. The secretary at my work thinks this way too. She's happy about being uninformed on literally every issue, and happy to offer to get illegals for the office whenever we need extra help. I told her if she did, I'd report her ass in a NY minute. Boss' daughter thinks like this too....doesn't like Rush because he's "mean".

What makes you tick? I'm very interested in understanding...

How about in Prince William County, Virginia where a general district court judge told a defendant (through an english-spanish interpreter--one of many who had an english-spanish interpreter): "In this country you need a driver's license to drive. Why don't you have a driver's license?"

I didn't see this first-hand, but I'm thinking about taking a day off work to go watch what's going on in general district court these days. The person who saw that said that 80% of the defendants that day had interpreters!

I have a friend (who does all the handyman type work around the three houses, including mine, that I am reponsible for maintaining that I don't want to do myself) who works in construction with them (he doesn't hire them--he just works alongside them). He says they think they know everything and you can't tell them anything.

But speaking of seeing things, have you ever seen one with a leafblower blowing at invisible debris or mowing the same part of the lawn over and over?

Real productivity, there.

There's not any brain surgeons coming over that border, that's for sure.

You're talking about people who think that adding a huge wing to their car makes it go faster.

No, not brain surgeons, by any stretch.

Tell me, bayourod. Since you hire illegals,.....

Is that true?

You have an ongoing policy of hiring illegal aliens?

Sure, until they get citizenship, form unions, and no longer want to work for peanuts. They will ultimately cost us more than American workers.

Most illegal aliens will never have the chance to become U.S. citizens unless they are granted an amnesty first. When was the last time Congress passed an amnesty for illegal aliens?

Although I am sure it will put me to sleep:
Please post your basis for the comment that
"cost the American taxpayer more than September 11, the Iraq war and every natural disaster each year,'
is
"Obviously factually incorrect."

Also, the basis for your
"...textbook case of a xenophobe."

Perhaps the original author lives in and around a large load of illegals, does not date or make money off of any of them, and has a better perspective than you?

Perhaps it is possible to be tolerant of others AND want those others who broke the law getting into this country to be pitched out on their collective ass?

In short: being anti illegal alien and being xenophobic are NOT the same; come here legally, follow the rules, learn my go***mn language, and everything is just fine - I don't care what you look like.

Hmm, no state listed.

Have you been to Phoenix and checked out the car insurance / identity theft rates down here?

FReeper bayourod sure does love his precious illegal alien lawbreaker buddies! I wonder how many illegal aliens bayourod hugged today?

Maybe you mean "hired today". People who benefit from having very cheap labor that the taxpayer must subsidize with free health care and all the rest want the practice to go on. They really don't love the illegals or see them as any kind of buddies because they won't pay them American wages (how racist!) or provide them health insurance, they love them for the money they make by hiring them over someone they'd have to pay more to employ.

"You are obviously not an employer. You don't even have a clue as to how the employer/employee system works. Have you even held a real job? Do you know what a paycheck looks like? Are you familiar with federal withholding laws? ... Think you can convince an IRS auditor that your roofing company had no labor costs?"

[Anti sweatshop torpedo ARMED. FIRE!]
What state is your business in?
What industry is your business in?
You used roofing as an example, which is well known within
Arizona to hire low-wage Mexicans. What with fake ID's
and social security numbers, who knows whether they are
legitimate?
Let us see how much of your receipts (and payroll) are in
non-traceable cash.
Let us see whether you bribe inspectors & govt. officials
under the table to "look the other way" while you pay
illegals.

Or are you just a DU troll?

Now that illegals get in-state tuition rates in several states they wont just be working low wage jobs for long. Maybe when they start taking white collar jobs that demand spanish speakers(alredy going on in CA and AZ) people might take notice. Of course by then, it will be too late. I urge all of you to learn about the FTAA and if you plan to vote for Bush you had better at least fight him on the FTAA, he will try to pass it right after re-election. If that passes you can kiss the borders goodbye!

Today I only saw about 20 illegals as I went about my business, that isn't bad for around here. Normally I see more.

If you look at your states crime stats you might find that the ratio of criminals to "undocumented immigrants" is actually much higher than your post posits!

Want to balance the state budget?
Removing the expense of housing illegals in the sate and county prisons alone might do it!

Want a surplus and tax reduction?
Remove the incentive for illegals to invade your state, get the invaders out of your schools and hospitals.

Want higher eduction to be available for your kids?
Get the invaders out of your colleges, making room for more Americans and lowering the cost to taxpayers who subsidize the education of criminals!

Want better service, and the ability to converse with the people who staff the businesses you patronize?
Send the invaders back where they came from and fill the jobs with Americans!

Ah, a "target rich environment!"

He needs some night vision sight's, and a belt fed "assault weapon".

This is reaching the point that I am not sure I am joking.

Why of course, they are benefiting the golf crowd and the rest of the sobby upper crust who would rather violate the law to save them money than pay more for legal workers. How else are they going to keep their green fees down at their country clubs, and their home association fees down while they pay little for mowing and lawn maintenance and anything else they can get the illegals to do on the cheap.

Are these the same CEOs and executives that can't fully offshore all of their work to save their corporations money that they themselves can pocket a percentage?

My gosh, if they can't undercut legal domestic workers overseas, the least they can do is allow illegal immigrantion so that CEOs and the likes can economize, too!
