Looking Evil in The Eyes

Looking in The Eyes of evil

“You attacked us in Somalia; you supported the Russian atrocities against us in Chechnya, the Indian oppression against us in Kashmir, and the Jewish aggression against us in Lebanon” “Under your supervision, consent and orders, the governments of our countries which act as your agents, attack us on a daily basis” “These governments steal our Ummah's wealth and sell them to you at a paltry price”

These quotes from Usama bin Laden could be considered to be one of two realities, either Usama bin Laden is a mad man who is in complete disillusionment or that he is the embodiment of the peak in the clash of civilisation. The truth is that bin Laden is the number one enemy of the west but a hero to the majority in the east. Therefore; regardless of what the west thinks or wishes to believe about why the likes of bin Laden target the west, what need to be done is to study and analyse the roots of this wide spread support that he enjoys or at the very least the billions of his movement’s sympathizers.

In the Western political arena reasoning has become second-class to rationalization. Rationalization is nothing more than explaining one’s position after the fact. Some Western countries have become so drugged with power that they have afforded themselves the liberty of going in to WARs which result in thousands of deaths out of whims or sheer indication that there may be danger here or there. They have completely taken the liberty to kill and explain after the killings. Every time American jets or helicopters attack there are reports of children and women killed as a result. This terrifying trend has reached the point to where, by the American army standards, it is ok to have more collateral damage then the intended targets.

When are we going to stop assuming that our consultants and speechwriters have the intelligence required to cover our undoing? When are we going to realize that the world is wide-awake and we can no longer manipulate people by our polished rationalizatory speeches in our super medias? When are we going to sit on the table and try to truly study the true reasons why some people like Usama bin Laden choose to abandon the comfortable life their wealth could buy them and instead choose to be in frontline of resistance against us. Surely, we can not continue to provide poor excuses for resentful and vengeful people against us, hating our freedom is hardly a good excuse for people to put their lives in jeopardy in order to fight us. The questions we need to be asking ourselves are: Why isn’t Germany, china, or the Netherlands targets for the so-called terrorists? Don’t they have freedoms and civil liberties! We need to ask ourselves: Is it at all possible that the leaders whom we considered to be our front line friends have inadvertently squandered the wealth of Arabs especially in the gulf under our supervision and protection. Have we been in anyways overly sided with the Israeli state to the detriment of the Palestinian Arabs?

What we need to understand and contemplate is that Islam is to the Muslims as is “democracy” to the West. If we ass-U-me that our way of life is superior to that of the East then we have to realize that we are facing the billions of people who so staunchly are believers of deferent ideologies. Therefore, if we seek to use power to spread our ideology we must be prepared to face the billions of people who are not in line with what we believe in. Needless to say, it is a mission impossible to use force under the above circumstances, just as democracy spread throughout our countries in long periods we need to understand that it will take time to get our “superior” way of life to others. In Bill Clinton’s words: we cannot capture, jail or assassinate everyone who is in opposition to us.

No matter how much excuses we provide for the existence of Israel, we cannot contend the fact that the Palestians have, at the very least, the same rights to the land as does the Jews. If we continue calling resistance in Palestine as being evil while sanctioning the air strikes of the Israeli state that often results in the murder of children, then we are just building more opposition to whatever legitimate cause we may have. If we continue to assume that killing by laser guided missiles is more civil than killing by a suicide bomber we are wrong. If we assume that one kind of death is more the ending of life than another type of death we need to reconsider. “If Sharon is a man of peace in the eyes of Bush, then we are also men of peace!!! America does not understand the language of manners and principles, so we are addressing it using the language it understands”, I have never met bin Laden and quite indifferent to what he stands for, however, I must say that he has a point in what he says regarding Sharon. If we consider Sharon to be a man of peace, we must consider him to be that way too.

Instead of studying strategies on how to subdue others we need study ways to live in harmony with others. If we, for example, call the spreading of pornography in our societies as the symbol of democracy we must understand that others do not share the same feeling. Just as we wish the assistance of a checking point at Jordan Airport to minimize the smuggling of weapons or drugs into an airliner bound to our capitals, we would do a great service to Saudi Arabia by prohibiting the boarding of alcohol into an airliner that is bound to that country. That is just basic respect for other’s way of life.

I agree that all of what I propose requires a great deal of balance and care but doesn’t something as precious as harmony deserves that type of effort? The trick here is to understand and agree that people enjoy deferent types of civil liberties and democracies and therefore we should support democracies of each nation as that nation sees it fit so long that it is reasonable. For example, during the holly month of Ramadan, women are requested to dress in an Islamic manner, and therefore we must support that and not look at it as the infringement on personal freedoms. Just as our democracies go to the extent of being self destructive as to allow 18 and 19 old children to believe they are adults and in doing so lose the guidance of their much wiser parents and uncles, which often lands them into drugs and promiscuity, we must allow the natural way of Islamic living which assumes that a child is a child, no matter how old they get, until the parents die. Of course that may lead to oppression of some parents to their children just as affording teen-agers the right to chose lands them in trouble in the West. It is a game that requires genuine approach and requires an in-depth study and high level of tolerance and balance.

I am quite positive that should America decide to assume responsibility of it under doings, vow to start respecting other people’s way of living and denounce interference in other peoples affairs, we will have taken a great step to peaceful co-existence. If the mentality of America says acceptance of misjudgements means defeat and loss in its superpower status, that is grossly fallacious. If America were to change its tactics and start spending its wealth on educating the rest of the world, it would be far more effective in spreading its ideologies and the cost would be far less. If deep inside we start thinking and feeling about other people and other races as being no inferior to us things will change automatically. Just as an example, assume that South Africa’s white population was in poverty what would the West have done?? Well I suppose a hand of help would have been immediately extended. That is the spirit that should be directed to all races and nations regardless of differences as a price for peace and harmony.

Live and let live. “Muslims have children too”, one undisputable fact is that America will never be able to use its missiles and nukes to eliminate others even if it wanted to. It would be a suicide. Therefore; the logical approach is to dedicate its powers: economical, political and military to the advancement of the human race instead of using it to instil its superior position. That is at the very best childish. People in the house or the senate are all adults and therefore should start thinking and acting as adults. Remember that when humans argue a point they are seeking more to convince themselves then the other party. That shouldn’t be the case, the world hate-fuel has been sparked and what needs to be done is to extinguish the flames and start over. Anything different is futile.

There is no moral equivalency among cultures or nations. The author should get used to it or else he'll soon lose his right to write drivel to some socialist or mullah-imposed rules, or end up like those 300,000 + Iraqis Saddam Hussein's cronies tortured and put in mass graves.

"Peace" doesn't end slavery, torture and slaughter. It just looks the other way...

Phantom,

(Excuse this post coming to you but the moderator pulled the #1 post where I would normally put this.)

"James",

You wrote:

"...one undisputable fact is that America will never be able to use its missiles and nukes to eliminate others even if it wanted to. It would be a suicide."

I reply:

"No, it is suicide for you (the Ummah) to assume we would never reach point were we would use WMD against you without regard for the "innocent" (who strangely appear to care only for Muslim children and not ours) or the material destruction these weapons cause. Continue to attack us and you will find that point is a lot closer than you think. Once without constraint, you will be amazed at the real destructive capabilities of the United States once fully unleashed. It may be important to YOU that there are living Muslims in (fill in the favorite Muslim country of your choice) but I am rapidly reaching the point where it makes little difference to ME. One further comment, remember the United States has actually used nuclear weapons to end a war."

Jay Severin, subbing for Boortz last week suggested that President Bush should warn AQ and all Muslim countries that upon the next attack on America we will go "Truman On Your Ass."

By "we" do you mean the United States? If that's the case, I didn't say that at all.

The author of this piece can't seem to present one coherent thought. His writing runs the gambit from (paraphrasing) "that's just the way they are leave them alone" to "we need to invest everything we have to change their culture".

Childish, unreadable, bird cage liner.
