Dear Mr. Schieffer,
I believe you do yeoman's work weekly on your television program.
That being written, I believe that you cannot possibly serve as one of the moderators for the presidential debates.
You are affiliated with an organization that is heavily pushing what every other news organization in America (not right wing ones, but mainstream, The NY Times, the LA Times, ABC News etc...) a set of forged documents to attack the President.
Your organization, CBS, instead of recanting has decided to take the opposite approach and push itself into the abyss.
The only possible answer as to why CBS is doing this, is because of their strong distaste for our President.
CBS has ceased to be liberally biased and has become outright partisan.
If you do not distance yourself from CBS News or speak against their partisan journalism, then you have no place at the moderators table.

CBS should not waste time or effort defending Rather's integrity - that is a lost cause, the equivalent of convincing everyone the docs are real. Rather, CBS should read just this line from the Drudge Report,..."And in the nation's top market, New York, Rather finished not only behind NBC NIGHTLY NEWS and ABC WORLD NEWS TONIGHT -- but also pulled less audience than reruns of the SIMPSONS, WILL & GRACE and KING OF QUEENS." Good-night, Dan.

I think Mr. Schieffer (or whoever actually wrote this) has been hitting the bottle.
His response sounds as phony as Dan Rather's. He is still saying that have not proved that these documents are phony and until someone does he will assume they are authentic and smear the President with these documents.
Dan Rather, CBS News and by complicity, Bob Schieffer, have turned Journalism ethics on its head. They should have moved "heaven and earth" to prove these documents were authentic (beyond a shadow of a doubt) before they used them to attack a sitting President in time of War and just before an election. Note: They will continue to smear the President with these documents until someone proves to them these documents are false. That is backwards and they never used this standard to smear their darling, Bill Clinton. Remember: Juanita Brodderick never got interviewed on CBS.
I have blasted Dan Rather, CBS News, 60 Minutes, Bob Schieffer, John Roberts and all of the slime at CBS for smearing a President with "forged" documents.
CBS claims they are redoubling their efforts to prove these documents true or false. This tells me that CBS will continue to search for an expert until they find one that gives them their desired answer...and that is that the documents are real. This behavior is so reminiscent of the convicted felons I spent 23+ years working with. If they didn't get the desired answer to their request the first time, they'd continue on up the chain of command until they found someone who would acquiesce.

Second, when I wrote "I don't want to post his email" I meant email address.
Third, my excitement is perhaps a result of my frustration at having emailed hundreds and having only recieved two back.
Four, well as cbs news people go (beggars can't be choosers) Bob seems to be the closest one to an ind. voice there is (see his comments in South Dakota) which isn't saying much, but at least it's something!
CBS has lost the handle on what constitutes breaking a story. You actually have to be the first reporter to publish a thing. You don't "break a story" by announcing that at long last you know a thing if the entire rest of the country has known it for a week.
The first couple of lines IS Shifter's email - the poster's grammar leaves a little to be desired, I think he was talking about Shifter's email ADDRESS at the end of his post.

Schieffer has been spouting garbage for years. I would not characterize him as a stand up guy based on a brief, boiler-plate email.
Do you ever watch his Sunday morning news show? He is horrible! At least as bad as Rather.
He did not adress the substance of your note to him.
What you received is a NON-RESPONSE.
But BS is an active, committed Democrat from Texas. He is by no measure a non-partisan.
